CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL – WEDNESDAY

A quiet second day of the Festival for us which means I shall be able to enjoy a slightly more relaxed afternoon and spend valuable time with my owners and soak up some of the unique atmosphere.

1:30 G1 Ballymore Hurdle

Persian Time (Adrian Heskin)

He is the most handsome son of Califet who has done very well in both starts for us; winning on debut at Ascot and then putting up a great effort in a decent Novice last month, when upped to two and a half, where he stayed on very well. He may not be quite streetwise enough for a race of this nature at this stage of his career but he is very talented and has an extremely bright future.

2:50 Coral Cup

Bold Endeavour (Nico de Boinville)

He did very well over fences but didn’t enjoy himself in the Reynoldstown last time which seemed to knock the stuffing out of him a little bit so we’re switching back to Hurdles, where he is rated 5lbs lower, and putting on a set of cheekpieces which will help him travel in a race like this, because believe me, you need a strong traveller in the Coral Cup! He’s still very lightly raced and I’d like to think he still has his best days ahead of him. I would be looking for a bold show here.

Call Me Lord (Daryl Jacob)

He’s been a grand servant to Seven Barrows and seems in the form of his life this season, although as a consequence he is plenty high enough in the Handicap. The ground will be fine, as will the track, and this is his trip because he doesn’t really stay three miles.
