DAY 5 of the Qatar Goodwood Festival features the Stewards’ Cup Heritage Handicap over six furlongs with a full field of 28 runners. Fortunately, the forecast for Saturday is dry and we can as ever look forward to one of the races of the Qatar Goodwood Festival.
Enjoy whether at Goodwood or watching #athome on ITV Racing or Racing TV.

1:55 Goodwood – Summer Handicap (1m 6f)
Subsequent looked rusty on his first outing of the season at York, so his last of six behind Al Qareem in the John Smith’s Silver Cup is easily excused.
Last season he showed himself to be a much-improved performer going from a rating of 84 to 105, with form figures of 92115121 and he seemed to handle the track well enough when fifth at this meeting last year, though twelve furlongs on quick ground was not enough of a stamina test.
Subsequent will be suited down to the ground with the conditions and can come out on top.
2:30 Goodwood – Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes Group 2 (1m 6f)
Term Of Endearment has tried two miles a couple of times this year to no great effect, weakening out of things late on as he did in the final furlong at Sandown last time out, but at a mile and six furlongs her record looks a lot better, and that, of course, includes a win in this race last year where she was nicely on top at the line.
She was only worn down late by Scenic, who is a smart performer, in the Bronte Cup at York two starts ago, when doing too much too soon, but merely a reproduction of that puts her right there to follow up on her 2024 success.
3:05 Goodwood – Stewards’ Cup (6f)
Completely Random (nap) has a good draw in stall 1, and this four-year-old is an interesting contender who is having only his twelfth career start.
He won his first two starts this season and was then fifth to Aramram at Newbury, followed by an eye-catching run in the Wokingham, when, after being held up, he ran on well to finish fifth with Aramram in sixth.
The drying conditions are important to him, as he is most effective on good and good-to-firm.
Circe for Unibet Ambassador Richard Hannon, is a filly who is very much on the upgrade, having won three times over six furlongs on her last four appearances, with wins at Newmarket and Windsor in May, then back at headquarters last month.
The big question will be handling this large field, though if she does, Circe will run a big race.
Apollo One is worth a small each-way wager from stall 28, having been second from stall 27 in both 2023 and 2024. He has been so unlucky, and he deserves to take a Stewards’ Cup, as he clearly retains all his enthusiasm, as he showed over the minimum trip in a Listed Race at York last time out when fifth to Washington Heights, who was dropping down in grade.
Apollo One is much more effective over six furlongs, and he ran well in the Wokingham when seventh when top weight.
In the Stewards’ Cup he runs off top weight on a mark of 105 in comparison to 102 in 2024 and 100 in 2023. This time he has a seven-pound claimer on board, and Apollo One is ground versatile, so he can be in the mix again.
