Ionian
He clearly needs to improve a fair bit to win this, but we have always thought he is a better horse than he has shown to date, so let’s see. He travelled like a good horse when second at Sandown earlier in the season and probably ran a career-best at Warwick last time, when third to Saturday’s impressive winner Cosmic Connection and the runner-up in that race has won since, too, albeit in a contest he would have done well to lose. The fifth won next time, too. A strongly-run 2m with a bit of ease could just see him surprise a few people here, with our stable’s horses continuing in good form.
