GOODWOOD
3:05 Stewards’ Cup
Circe (Ryan Moore)
She is an extremely tough filly who is very consistent and always tries her best.
This is a typically competitive Handicap, but she has lots of pace and travels well, which is what you need in a race like this.
The track will suit, and she has a great draw in 23 if the going is soft, but the problem is, she wants firm ground!
4:55 Handicap
Boyfriend (Ryan Moore)
He stayed on over a mile last time, so he is going up a little bit in trip and competes off the same mark. He’s won on Good to Firm and Soft, therefore shouldn’t have any worries ground-wise, and he ran very well at the track last year.
Linwood (Jamie Spencer)
He’s a talented colt but has been off the track for a while, and this is quite a tough place to kick off his season. That said, he has his first start in a Handicap and I have no doubt his best days are ahead of him. He has plenty of class.
NEWMARKET
4:00 Handicap
Best Rate (Sean Levey)
I thought he ran ok over a mile last time, but seven furlongs might end up being his optimum trip, you know.
There’s no margin for error off his current mark, and while he’s very talented, I fear there may be a few others slightly better treated.
4:35 Handicap
Houstonn (Alec Voikhansky)
He was a shade unlucky at Ascot in first-time blinkers but stayed on nicely up the hill. I think a mile and a half is his trip, and if he gets some luck in running he won’t be far away under Alec who takes a few pounds off his back.
Odin Legacy (Sean Levey)
He takes his racing really well and has been very consistent since we applied the blinkers. This is his trip, and he goes on the ground, so he has every chance.
