Haatem (James Doyle)
I was delighted with his run in the G2 Summer Mile where he was slightly unlucky when Sean had to switch, and with a clearer run and a bit more time, he might have got there.
He’s now going back up in trip, which, nowadays, I think is what he wants, and a reproduction of his win in the Wolferton will see him go very close.
It’s a competitive race but he is a classy colt and has been in great form at home.
3:35
Antelope (Alec Voikhansky)
He’s generally consistent, albeit was a little disappointing last time, so he does need to bounce back, but this is a drop down in grade and we’re taking a few pounds off. Alec has won on him before, so a case can be made.
ASCOT
2:45
Great Bedwyn (Dario Di Tocco)
He’s a pound higher than his winning mark at York and didn’t run too badly at Wolverhampton last time over a trip that was probably a bit too far. Dropping back to a mile and a half will be in his favour and I’m told his jockey is very good!
Houstonn (Ryusei Sakai)
He’s much better than he often shows and definitely has a decent prize in him. This is his best trip and we’re retaining the blinkers because they seemed to help last time. The handicapper has dropped him another pound and he comes into this off quite an attractive mark.
4:30
Talis Evolvere (Suraj Narredu)
He’s a tough guy who is arguably better on the All-Weather, but he has won on turf and been running well in defeat this season. He wasn’t beaten far over course and distance on his latest run and I can’t see any reason why he won’t give another good account.
NEWMARKET
1:55
Ballistic Missile (Sean Levey)
This is obviously a big step down from the Coventry, which is a race that has actually worked out nicely, and we’ve given him a wind op since then.
The step up to seven furlongs will really suit, because he did all his best work at the end at York, and I fancy him to go very well on his first start in Nursery company.
3:40
Sapphire Steps (Sean Levey)
I thought she’d run a nice race at Newbury, but to be honest I didn’t expect her to be ready to win first time out, so she must be pretty good to do what she did, and this race has been the plan ever since.
We’ve used that maiden as a stepping stone to bigger things with plenty of our other fillies, and this one is hopefully right up there with the best of them.
4:50
Detroit Lion (Tom Greatrex)
He put up a good performance at Lingfield last time off the back of a short break and has been given plenty of time to get over it. He’ll appreciate the step up to 1m6f and I fancy him to go close.
