I REALLY do think Sir Dragonet is the most talented horse in the Derby after what we saw in the Chester Vase. That win had a bit of the wow factor that none of the rest of this field can match.
It’s just a matter of whether this different test on much quicker ground – as well as the occasion, and all that goes with it – gets the better of him.
I think he may have the class and temperament to overcome his inexperience, though.
Aidan could have the 1-2-3 in here as, while Broome may be more workmanlike than Sir Dragonet, he looks a very solid and professional customer who is on the up.
I am worried about Telecaster being a bit too keen from stall two, and I can see him folding late on, as I expect this to be a fiercely-run race.
Japan appeals as my each-way play in the race. He was very good at two, and I think we can expect him to leave his Dante fourth well behind here.
