IT was great to bag a winner at York on Wednesday with Arcadian Sunrise for John Queally who was very confident beforehand. He’s a horse who’d shown very good form coming into the race so we were expecting a good run but in big fields like that you obviously need plenty of luck in running, and despite missing the break he travelled really well throughout and when I asked the question he picked up very nicely to come home a decisive winner.

Sometimes when horses travel so well on the bridle there’s a concern they don’t find much under pressure but this lad did and while quite often things don’t go to plan, all the gaps opened at the right time and it was a great feeling passing the winning post in front of a really big crowd at York on a favourite!

This is a really hot race, as you’d expect, with the likes of Golden Pal, Suesa and Winter Power arriving here off the back of impressive wins and they are all on an upward curve so there’s no doubt we’re up against it, but my horse has some really decent form and wasn’t beaten all that far behind Suesa at Goodwood last time, and a reproduction of his effort in the Kings’ Stand, when he was only beaten and neck, is obviously a decent standard and a reproduction of that would definitely see him in the firing line. Any softening in the ground would also help his chance and we’re drawn upsides Suesa so are in a good position to track her and with a bit of luck in running I’m hopeful of a bold show.
