Peter Wright v Dimitri Van Den Bergh
I will be fascinated to see how this game is played and in which spirit. If I were Peter Wright I would come out with immediate intensity just like I did against Jonny Clayton on night 1, and keep my foot down. These very close pals who shared each others company during the 2020 lockdown will know each others games inside and out, but I reckon Snakebite will have a couple of charms up his sleeve.
I still believe that Dimi is a very hard player to predict but he doesn’t look out of place on the Premier League stage, and he does look very likely to hit a big out at any time.
With Wright and his propensity to hit doubles without hesitation, you think this match is prime for a big, BIG checkout and I think a Peter Wright victory.
TIP- Wright to win, and there to be a finish of over 141.5 – (11/10 and 4/1)
Gary Anderson v Glen Durrant
Gary is the kind of darter that defies logic most of the time. He can go without practice and without game time for weeks on end, then pick up where he left off without issue. Do you have any idea how rare that is in this sport? His opponent cannot afford that luxury as he needs game time to overcome some technical frailties and some confidence woes.
The thing with Gary too, is that the more he plays within himself, the better he will get and I see him taking big strides at the back end of the first 5-day cluster of evenings.
The way Glen has played already, you can’t envisage him out scoring Anderson, so you’d go for the 180 betting, and you’d also want to have a look at the winning odds by a margin too for The Flying Scotsman. With Gary not taking part in much ranking action this Spring, all of his energies will go on these PL games as a result.
TIP – Anderson to win by 3 clear legs and to have the most 180’s – (1/2)
James Wade v Michael Van Gerwen
Michael Van Gerwen is not playing poorly, let’s just get that out of the way. He isn’t picking up as many wins as he did in previous years because in contrast to what James Wade thinks, the overall standard of the opposition is better than ever.
I think Wade is playing with a measure of freedom since his inclusion, due to Price's Covid-19 diagnosis, and he isn’t likely to let anything small get to him. I think MVG may struggle to shake Wade off in this match, and James has had this knack of taking points off the top dogs in years gone by.
Michael does enjoy playing Wadey, but boy do they tussle on occasion and James does not wilt, so thats why I am going for a Wade win in 12 legs. Add a bullseye finish in there to boot and you will get a proper match.
Tip – Wade to win. Plus, the odds for a bullseye checkout – (9/2 and 11/8)
