ASCOT

3:00

CLASSIC (SEAN LEVEY)

He went up 5lbs for winning at Sandown under a great front-running ride by Sean last time and has come out of it well.

It’ll obviously be a little harder to dictate in a race like this with so many runners, but the emphasis will be on stamina, so the drop back to seven (furlongs) won’t be an issue at all.

We’ve always thought a great deal of him and he’s the type of horse who, now he’s got his head back in front, his confidence is high and he could notch up sequence (hopefully anyway!)

3:35

TALIS EVOLVERE (SEAN LEVEY)

He’s very consistent but, as a consequence, is very much in the Handicapper’s grip. A mile or seven furlongs comes as the same to him, and he’ll handle the ground fine. With a bit of luck things will pan out and he’ll finish his race well.

CHESTER

5:30

MEBLESH (ALEC VOIKHANSKY)

He was slightly unlucky at Ascot last time but stayed on nicely to collect third, and this is his trip. He’s quite pacey, so Chester will suit him, and the draw shouldn’t make much difference in a field of this size over the distance.

SALISBURY

6:00

LOST SIGNAL (JOHN FAHY)

He’s a big, strong colt who ran exactly as we expected on debut at Newbury. I thought he’d probably need it, and he did, but that has sharpened him up physically and mentally, and I would be extremely hopeful of him going close here.

7:30

ANTELOPE (JOE LEAVY)

He ran a solid enough race at Newmarket last time and is a likeable horse who has been pretty consistent since being gelded. The ground will be fine, and he goes there with a decent chance.

WINDSOR

8:15

GREAT (SAM HITCHCOTT)

He missed the break at Ascot last time and never really got into contention, but he’s better than that, and if he starts well, I think he could be quite a threat dropped back in trip.

SUNDAY – MUNICH

1:10

PERSICA (SEAN LEVEY)

Persica heads out to Germany for a valuable Group One and comes into the race in excellent form. We’ve kept him nice and fresh since Epsom, and hopefully there will be a bit of rain, which would really aid his cause.

It looks a good race, as it should be, but he’s entitled to be there and has every chance.
