SANDOWN

Laguna Beach (Nico De Boinville)
I thought he ran a good race at Ascot last time after making a few minor jumping errors and giving the winner 6lbs. This is a step up in grade but he’s a very nice horse for the future and has a solid chance on his Handicap debut.

Calimystic (Nico De Boinville)
He was very good in the end at Newbury where he really stayed on well to win on Chase debut, and despite making a few errors, he showed a fantastic attitude. It took him quite a while to get over that, so we’ve given him plenty of time and he’s looking great now.
He has schooled and worked very nicely and while he was entered in the 2m4f Novice on the same card, I feel this trip suits him better and he should love the track because he stays well and I’m very hopeful.
He’s a promising horse.

Akimos (Nico De Boinville)
He is mystifying us a little bit because he works nicely but didn’t appear to enjoy himself last time and nothing has come to light. The ground isn’t a problem and if he can jump, and get into a rhythm, he could run well.
HEREFORD

By The Grace (Mr Daniel Williams)
She understandably got tired, after being off for almost a year, at Southwell last time, so she’ll be much sharper here and worked well on the Faringdon Road grass gallop last week.
Amazingly she is yet to win a race, but I’d be expecting that to change very quickly.

Bective Abbey (James Bowen)
He’s a very consistent and likeable person who is extremely consistent, but as a consequence the handicapper has given him no leniency and he now finds himself off 121.
But he jumps and stays well and on ratings is the best horse in the race so, in theory, is the one they have to beat.
