Hoffenheim v Munich – Friday, January 18 at 19:30 GMT
The first match of the weekend is definitely the biggest. Hoffenheim sit seventh in the Bundesliga and are desperate for wins to aid their Europa League qualification hopes.
But in reality all eyes are on Munich here. The German giants are six points behind Dortmund heading into the weekend and are on a mission to regain top spot. This is their first game back after the winter break, which they headed into having won each of their last three games.
Spirits are high at Munich, with the mission of chasing down Dortmund adding spice to the league this season. They beat Hoffenheim 3-1 at home back in August and are a good bet at 1.47 to win on Friday night.
And, considering Hoffenheim are winless in their last eight matches, this is Munich’s game for the taking!
Leipzig v Dortmund – Saturday, January 19 at 17:30 GMT
Another stunning match-up in Germany this weekend comes from Leipzig. The new superpower of German football have failed so far to topple Munich and Dortmund. They sit fourth in the table and look set to settle for a Champions League finish this term.
But Leipzig could still affect the title race – starting against Dortmund on Saturday. A win here would seriously affect Dortmund’s confidence heading into the second half of the campaign, with Munich breathing down their neck.
But the stats suggest this is Dortmund’s game for the taking. They smashed Leipzig 4-1 at home back August despite having less of the ball and fewer shots. The clinical finishing that a title challenger needs has been a factor ofd Dortmund’s performances all season — and has been lacking at Leipzig.
Expect both teams to score here at 1.52. But the big bet here is an away win at 2.85.
Schalke v Wolfsburg – Sunday, January 20 at 17:00 GMT
The last match of the weekend promises to be fiery, with Schalke desperate to start 2019 with a win. They sit 13th in the Bundesliga, while Wolfsburg themselves have endured a disappointing camping and are fifth heading into the weekend.
Defensively Schalke have been reasonably sound this season. But a chronic lack of goals has cost them. And a lack of activity in the January transfer market is impacting on them even more.
Over in Wolfsburg, meanwhile, spirits are high. Three straight wins before Christmas – including two clean sheets – has boosted morale and reinvigorated a team that at one stage looked destined to miss out on Champions League qualification.
The goals have been spread around this Wolfsburg side in 2018/19, so it’s advisable to stay away from the first goalscorer betting markets. Instead, an away win at 3.65 is a great price.
