Ajax favourites to win title
Last season’s Champions League semi-finalists are on course to defend their Eredivisie title. That’s if you believe the Unibet betting odds have got it right. Ajax are 1.65 to win the Eredivisie this season after a stellar campaign in 2018/19. The Lancieri have spent big this summer, landing Quincy Promes from Sevilla, Razvan Marin from Liege and Edson Alvarez from Club America.

The transfer splurge makes up for Frenkie de Jong’s sale to Barca and Matthijs de Ligt’s move to Juve. That earned Ajax €150m combined — and they are ready to reinvest the cash.
Ajax start the new Eredivisie season away to Vitesse on Saturday, August 3 and should comfortably win at 1.52. The issue for Ajax is making sure their new players bed in well with the squad as they compete to qualify for this season’s Champions League group stage.
That could provide a draining distraction between now and September, which is where Ajax’s Eredivisie title rivals could steal some ground. But in reality, this is Ajax’s title to lose.
Do Eindhoven stand a chance?
Can Eindhoven realistically challenge Ajax for the Eredivisie title? On the face of it, no. Eindhoven have already endured a difficult summer. They have been eliminated from Champions League qualification and lost the Johan Cruijff Shield 2-0 to Ajax. Defeats to Wolfsburg and Nice in pre-season haven’t helped their cause either.

The issue for Eindhoven is likely their squad strength. While Ajax have been able to spend big after selling two young players, Eindhoven’s transfer powder is largely dry. Angelino and Luuk de Jong have joined Manchester City and Sevilla respectively. In return, Bruma has arrived from Leipzig and Timo Bumgartl from Stuttgart. The £22m spend on these players is no match to Ajax’s spree and there is a feeling Eindhoven will simply not be able to string together the winning momentum needed to beat their rivals to the title.
Eindhoven are 2.40 to win the league. And remember, you can live stream football and bet In Play on all Dutch games this season!
Eredivisie relegation betting
Twente, RKC Waalwijk and Sparta Rotterdam all earned promotion to the Eredivisie this season and it is RKC who are favourites to drop straight back down. The North Brabant minnows had spent the last five seasons in the Dutch second tier and somehow earned promotion via the playoffs despite finishing eighth last term.

RKC are a tiny team compared to the likes of Ajax and Eindhoven and are expected to drop back down into the Eerste Divisie at 1.50.
Meanwhile, Sparta are 2.40 second favourites to go down despite a very strong campaign in the second tier last term. Sparta have landed a number of free transfers in this summer’s window and don’t really have the budget to blow money on top stars. But Henk Fraser’s men will be confident of avoiding the drop.
As for Twente, the should at least finish mid-table this season after cruising to promotion last term. They endured one season in the wilderness but are back. Twente have been active in the loan market and have also nailed a few free transfers. Julio Pleguezuelo appears an exciting prospect from Arsenal and striker Emil Berggreen has joined from Mainz.
Twente are 1.22 to avoid relegation this term.
