The Cricket World Cup final is upon us and few cricket betting fans would have expected England to be here at this stage.
England were facing elimination from their home tournament less than a fortnight ago but the hosts have battled back to reach Sunday’s final at Lord’s.
They face a New Zealand side that have greatly impressed in this tournament and started out as the fourth favourites to win the Cricket World Cup.

England favourites to win
Rather unsurprisingly seeing as they’re the hosts, England are 1.31 to beat New Zealand and win the Cricket World Cup. It is a strange situation they’re in, considering England were so close to exiting the tournament in the group stage. But Eoin Morgan’s men have fought back and beat New Zealand by an eye watering 119 runs earlier this summer.

With that in mind, it’s easy to see why England are such favourites here. They smashed the Australians in the semi-final, with Jason Roy clobbering 85 runs in a very low chase that was set by the superb bowling attack of Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid.
England’s opening partnership of Roy and Jonny Bairstow must keep their heads in this final and set a bedrock for the innings. Joe Root is a competent third batsman but so much of England’s tournament has been built from this opening partnership.
As for New Zealand, they were stunned by Bairstow’s century when they played England in the group stage and were whittled by the fast arm of Mark Wood. But Matt Henry showed his class when demolishing India’s top order in their semi-final. New Zealand at 3.60 to win is a decent price.
Top batsman betting
Joe Root and Kane Williamson will likely battle it out to score the most runs in the final. And remember, you can live stream cricket and bet on who will be the top batsman right here with Unibet! Root boasts two centuries for the tournament and an average of 68.92. But Williamson’s 91.33 average is staggering and something England may well have to address.

The Kiwi captain scored 67 runs against a decent India bowling attack but just 27 when he faced the English bowlers in the group stage. Root also failed to impress against New Zealand with 24 runs.
It seems all eyes could well be on Bairstow here. So while statistically Root (6.00) and Williamson (5.75) are strong bets to top score in the final, Bairstow is the in-form man and is well priced at 6.00.
Top bowler betting
So who will rule with the ball in hand? Well Jofra Archer remains England’s best bowler statistically, with 19 wickets for the tournament. But the seamer has averaged just one wicket per game in his last four outings — and those games have been against some of the world’s best batsmen. England need someone who will claim a three-wicket haul here and really challenge the New Zealanders. Archer at 6.00 is the favourite but there are guys in better form to be backed here.

Take Chris Woakes, for example, who claimed three wickets in the win over Australia and two vs India. Both Chris Wood and Liam Plunkett have impressed with the ball in hand — but Woakes is probably a better bet at 7.00.
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Matt Henry is 9.00 to be the top wicket taker — a decent price considering the context of this final and the fact England have collapsed on a number of occasions already in this tournament.
