All Star Game – Wednesday, July 10 at 00:30 BST

American League favourites

The American League are the favourites to win the All Star Game at 1.88. But that is not exactly a heavy lead in the baseball betting markets. This is the star-studded game of the season where the best players from the MLB converge. And fans expect big things from the plate.

The AL have won the MLB All Star Game in each of the past six seasons. The last two years the game has gone into a 10th inning, and only twice has there been fewer than five runs scored in a game.

This match could well be decided by the sluggers. And the NL seem a strong bet to take the win. After all, NL teams boast an 89-73 advantage over AL sides this season so far. They are desperate to end the losing streak and this is the moment that could happen.

The NL have Javier Baez and Freddie Freeman in their arsenal — two big hitters and men who are looking to claim the MVP for the game too. Yes, the AL boast four Astros players in George Springer, Alex Bergman, Michael Brantley and Justin Verlander — but the AL will hope to swipe this star-studded team away.

Starting pitchers key

Justin Verlander will start as pitcher for the AL on Wednesday, while Dodgers arm Hyun-jin Ryu gets the nod for the NL. And it’s fair to say these two pitchers should keep the scores low in the opening innings.

Neither man is expected to pitch past five innings and the way they’re throwing right now, don’t expect too many runs in the first and second innings. Ryu has a 3.71 ERA, while Verlander is cruising on 3.32 ERA. Those are strong averages for two of the MLB’s best starting pitchers.

Expect the runs to come in the later innings and we could see +9.5 runs at 2.40. A price of 3.90 for the scores to be tied after three innings each is also on offer here.

Trout for MVP

Mike Trout is the 11.00 favourite to be named the MVP from the All Star Game. He is certainly a slugger with the bag in hand and could well hit a home run or two in Cleveland. Trout boasts 71 runs from 87 games this season, with 28 home runs.

Cody Bellinger is 12.00 for the MVP award. The Dodgers star has managed just three runs in his last eight games but remains a favourite with many MLB live stream and betting fans.

Yet some punters are moving towards Javier Baez to claim the award here. Cubs star Baez managed two runs against the White Sox over the weekend. In fact, he has taken two runs in each of his last three series. Baez is 19.00 to claim the MVP award.
