Back the draw at 3.30

Each of the last three La Liga encounters between these two rivals have ended as a draw. In the European Super Cup last August, the pair draw in normal time before Atl Madrid ran out 4-2 victors after extra time.

Looking back over the past four seasons, there have been seven draws (within 90 minutes) from the past 11 meetings of Atl Madrid and R Madrid. Simeone’s men know how to match up against Los Blancos home and away.

Right now, R Madrid would probably take a draw away at the Wanda Metropolitano. They come into this clash having scraped a 1-1 draw at Barca in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday. A 0-0 result is priced at 9.50.

Sergio Ramos booking

It’s almost inevitable. Sergio Ramos will get booked in big games for R Madrid. He is a smart defender who knows when to commit the necessary foul. Ramos has been booked in six of his last 10 games with Atl Madrid. His defensive partner Dani Carvajal has also been booked in two of his last four outings vs Atl.

On Wednesday night Ramos was booked within 10 minutes of Los Blancos’ trip to Barca. Some would claim it is a reckless trait in Ramos’ game that harms the team. But in reality the centre-back is almost always in complete control, knowing how to come in sly on the tackle in the hope of avoiding the referee’s ire.

He is cautioned in the big games for a reason and is more likely than not to be booked on Saturday.

First goalscorer

Atletico’s Griezmann is the 4.90 match favourite to score first in the Wanda Metropolitano. But he has hardly Atl Madrid’s most prolific striker against their rivals. Five goals from the last 19 Madrid derbies is not great form for the World Cup winner. Atl Madrid have increasingly become less reliant on the Frenchman in these games — and it’s only been in the last two months that he has truly regained his pre-World Cup form.

Griezmann boasts 10 goals since the end of November and has failed to find the net in just four of his last 13 outings. The injury to Diego Costa has meant Griezmann has had to step up and the France international has delivered.

The big focal point on Saturday, however, will be Alvaro Morata. The former R Madrid striker is back in Spain but in Atl Madrid stripes. He joined from Chelsea in January and made his first start in the 1-0 loss at Betis last week. He is the man to follow on your football live stream.

Morata is rarely an impact player — more a steady presence up front. It will be interesting to see how he combines with Griezmann in the long-term and if he can keep Costa out the side.

This R Madrid defence know Morata very well and the striker stunned his former club when playing against them for Juve in the Champions League a few years back. Atl Madrid will hope for the same impactful performance and he is 6.75 to score first.

But will the visitors open the scoring? Well, Gareth Bale is bang out of form and was dropped for the midweek Clasico. Karim Benzema likewise has dropped in form. It’s hard to see where Los Blancos will get a goal unless it comes from the likes of Lucas Vazquez (11.00 to score first) or Brahim Diaz (11.00).

This is the bluntest Madrid strike force in years and Atl Madrid are justified favourited at 2.35 to win.
