TODAY could be an excellent evening for the overseas team with Inspiral Unibet 2/1 stepping up in trip in the Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf after her decisive Sun Chariot Stakes success at Newmarket, with Frankie Dettori looking for another Breeders’ Cup victory.

Whilst the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf could see Auguste Rodin Unibet 11/4 deliver another sparkling performance after his Irish Champions success, whilst Mostahdaf Unibet 5/2 was primed for the Champion Stakes and then was pulled out on account of the ground.  He will love the ground and must be primed for a big race effort, whilst King Of Steel Unibet 11/2, who has appeared regularly in my Unibet blog had a very hard race when taking the Champion Stakes with a classy and gutsy performance two weeks ago. 8.30 Santa Anita – Fanduel Breeders’ Cup Mile presented by PDJF Grade 1 (1m)

Mawj (nap) can retain her unbeaten record in 2023 after winning in Meydan back in January and February ahead of being victorious in a super renewal of the 1,000 Guineas when just holding the brilliant Tahiyra, who went on to win three Group 1 races on the bounce. After the Guineas Mawj was off for five months and then reappeared in October to win the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland by half a length from Lindy. Mawj led with a circuit to go that day and you can see her being prominent here as that is her style. She clearly has Songline as the main danger, yet Mawj will build considerablely on that Keeneland performance and will come out on top.

9.50 Santa Anita – Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf Grade 1 (1m 4f)

Onesto came right back to form in the Arc when third behind Ace Impact and Westover, which is arguably the best form to bring to the race. He looked very sharp when appearing on the course on Thursday for a piece of work and is backed by his Grand Prix de Paris success, as well as his Arc third.

10.40 Santa Anita – Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Grade 1 (1m 2f)

Zandon has strong each way claims despite not being able to handle White Abarrio last time out and they reoppose here, with the step up in trip working in Zandon’s favour. Since then, Zandon has won the Grade 2 Woodward Stakes at Aqueduct, easily beating Film Star and he was suited there by the strong pace, which he looks sure to get here. I saw Zandon on course on Thursday morning at Clocker’s Corner when he did a couple of good pieces of work.

11.25 Santa Anita – Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint Grade 1 (5f)

Live In The Dream delivered a brilliant performance to take the Nunthorpe Group 1 at the York Ebor Festival ahead of doing way too much at the head of affairs in the Woodford Stakes at Keeneland when fading to finish fourth. Live in The Dream has been in good form on the gallops in the US and can scare off the opposition with a fast early pace to score a fantastic success for the Adam West team.

12.00 Santa Anita – Qatar Racing Breeders’ Cup Sprint Grade 1 (6f)

Elite Power is a very smart five-year-old who won in 2022 the Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Keeneland by 1¼ lengths from C Z Rocket. This season Elite Power has won a Group 3, a Grade 2 and a Grade 1 at Saratoga when beating Gunite by a head and then on his next start Elite Power suffered his first defeat in nine starts over seven furlongs when unable to give his old rival six pounds at the same course. Elite Power meets Gunite on level terms and with the return to six furlongs suiting him really well he can follow up last year’s victory.
