York Ebor Saturday

THE final day of the Ebor Festival features a quality renewal of the Ebor Handicap in a field that has plenty of depth and certainly has a strong Irish challenge as well as a domestic one too.

This has a stronger look than the 2024 Ebor, and this is going to be an enthralling race.

It will be fascinating to see if Bullet Point, the winner of the Clipper Stakes on Thursday, takes his place in the Strensall Stakes on Saturday for which he is Unibet 5/1

Enjoy, whether at York or watching #athome on ITV Racing or Racing TV.

Cheers!

1:50 York – Strensall Stakes Group 3 (1m1f)

Bullet Point won the Clipper Stakes Handicap on Thursday while looking like a Group horse.

He was marked up in my Unibet blog, as he had been at Royal Ascot when runner-up in the Royal Hunt Cup and to Fearnot (ran Friday) in an Ascot Handicap.

Bullet Point looks sure to handle this additional furlong, and if racing has a top chance with Kings Gambit the main danger.

3:00 York – City Of York Stakes Group 1 (7f)

Rosallion is finally going to get the win he so deserves in his 2025 campaign for Unibet Ambassador Richard Hannon.

He was second to Docklands in the Queen Anne Stakes when beaten a nose over a mile and then at Goodwood he looked unlucky, as he has so much ground to make up to try and peg back the pacemaker Qirat over the same trip

The drop back to seven furlongs is not a concern, and this genuine individual can gain his first Group 1 victory of 2025.

3.35 York – Ebor Handicap (1m 6f)

Majestic Warrior (nap) is a five-year-old having only his fifth career start, having been off for 698 days when winning so impressively over one mile four furlongs at Thirsk back in April when beating Knightswood by four and a half lengths.

Everything about that performance said a step up in trip is going to be in his favour and he showed at Thirsk he can quicken too.

Majestic Warrior won two of his three starts as a three-year-old in his first season, and let’s remember he is a half-brother to the 2020 Ebor Winner Fujaira Prince.

Ascending is a dual-purpose performer who hasn’t been out of the first two in his last seven flat starts and this has included wins over one mile four furlongs, showing lots of determination at Cork , also over two miles and two miles four furlongs at Royal Ascot.

Ascending hasn’t been seen since that Ascot victory, and with the draw and ground in his favour he can show how he has been laid out for the Ebor.

4:10 York – Constantine Handicap Heritage Handicap (6f)

Pocklington is a talented colt who must go down as unlucky when beaten three-quarters of a length by Elmonjed here at their last meeting in July. He tanked into the race, travelling well, and then had no room two furlongs out when he needed it and then was switched to run on strongly to finish fifth. He has a good opportunity here of gaining the victory, with Two Tribes the strongest challenger.

Two Tribes was my Unibet selection for the International at Ascot over seven furlongs when he won at 25/1, and I’m still kicking myself for not tipping him for the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood on the slower ground over six furlongs.

He was fourth over this trip on the quicker ground here back in May, and whilst this is more of an ask, he is looking upwardly mobile right now, which puts him right in the frame.
