IT IS great to be racing! A massive well done to everyone involved in terms of the preparation and the race days themselves.

This is a big weekend for racing, with Newmarket’s Guineas Festival and the opportunity to recruit lots of new fans to racing with all the #ATHome coverage. Newmarket on their website have posted loads of ideas of how everyone can get involved this weekend watching at home, with something for everyone to do in the family to ensure that racing’s get that engagement.

Enjoy a fantastic day’s racing and I hope Pinatubo delivers a scintillating performance.

Cheers!

1.50 Newmarket – Racing Welfare Palace House Stakes (Group 3) 5f

This is a very competitive renewal and they will go at some pace here with the Epsom Dash winner Ornate in the field. This will suit Moss Gill, who looked most progressive as a 3-year-old, winning a big field handicap at York last season with the minimum of fuss. He will like the ground and has the benefit of a winning run back in March. Moss Gill can come from off the pace and looks the one to beat from a favourable draw in stall 10.

We have inevitably seen some unpredictable results this week and at a huge price you can make a case for The Cruising Lord drawn in stall 12. He will love the fast gallop and he was closing in quickly at the death in the Group 3 Coral Charge at Sandown last season after getting outpaced. Won first time up last year too, could surprise and was fourth to Sergei Prokofiev on his only appearance at Newmarket!

Unibet Moss Gill 5/1 win

Unibet The Cruising Lord 40/1 each way

2.25 Newmarket – Dahlia Fillies’ Stakes (Group 2) 1m 2f

Magic Lily looks the one to be with. She has a 3lb penalty to carry for her two Group 2 wins in Meydan but that form looks rock solid, and a repeat of her Fillies’ Mile third to Laurens when last at Newmarket will be good enough. The ground is no issue, with trip fine and can prove too good for these, giving Godolphin another victory.

Unibet Magic Lily 9/4 win

3.00 Newmarket – Newmarket Stakes (Listed Race) 1m 2f

Waldkonig (nap) was so impressive on his Wolverhampton debut, leaving the impression he had plenty left in the tank, and his pedigree – half-brother to Arc winner Waldgeist – suggests he could be top-class. This step up to 1 mile 2 furlongs can surely only be of benefit to him and he can take this on route to a crack at the Derby. He is simply very exciting and remember Jack Hobbs won at Wolverhampton on debut for the John Gosden team before finishing second in the Derby.

Unibet Waldkonig 5/4 win

3.35 Newmarket – QIPCO 2000 Guineas Stakes (Group 1)

Pinatubo won six from six last season and he simply looks very hard to beat. There is no question about his form, including successes at Royal Ascot, Goodwood and a nine length victory at the Curragh. In terms of trip, stepping up to a mile from seven furlongs is not a problem as he looks sure to stay and assuming he has trained on he could go on and win by five lengths.

With Pinatubo’s victory looking assured there is some good each-way value at double figure prices including Military March, also for the Godolphin team. This striking looking individual won on debut on the July course on quick going, then followed up in the Autumn Stakes on the Rowley Mile in the soft, showing battling qualities to beat Al Suhail, who reopposes. I was at Newmarket that day and he went straight in the notebook, as he is very straightforward and clearly very progressive.

Unibet Pinatubo 5/6 win

Unibet Military March 14/1 each way
