WHAT a week of racing it has been with the Doncaster St Leger Festival and the Irish Champions Weekend at the Curragh. On the Unibet Racing twitter feed there was a tweet with the list of star runners over this weekend, which was quite amazing. Today at the Curragh there are plenty of stars on show across one Group 2 and four Group 1 races. Enjoy a fantastic and fascinating day of Sunday racing.

2.40 Curragh – Moyglare Stakes Group 2 (1m 2f)
Lemista can make it four in a row in 2020 for the Ger Lyons team. Last time out here in July Lemista came with a strong finish down the outside to beat Lovelier in good style, whilst giving every impression there is more to come. On that occasion the favourite One Voice had no luck in running at all and once again will be at the top of the market as they renew rivalry. On official ratings Lemista has it to find against her rivals at the head of the market, yet she can take them on and come out on top.

3.10 Curragh- Flying Five Group 1 (5f)
Glass Slippers (nap) showed all her best form came in the autumn last year, winning on her last three starts of the season. She very much showed signs that she was is on the way back at Goodwood, when delivering a much better effort to be second to Battaash. Her trainer Kevin Ryan has had this as very much part of the plan, bypassing the Nunthorpe and Haydock to come here. The ground here should be fine, as it won’t be quick, as the odd shower should keep it no quicker than good/good to yielding. This is sure to be a fast five furlongs, which is ideal for Glass Slippers.
Unibet 4/1 win
Rapid Reaction is a big price and is worth a small each way wager as he was third to A’Ali (reopposes today) here on his penultimate start with Make A Challenge second and he heads the market. Admittedly last time out he didn’t travel so smoothly when coming to challenge when finishing fifth to Make A Challenge, yet he could reward each way players here.

3.40 Curragh – Moyglare Stud Stakes Group 1 (7f)
Teresa Mendoza travelled best here last time but couldn’t finish the job off on heavy ground when second to New Treasure and will appreciate the return to better ground here and the step up to seven furlongs. On her only other start on debut Teresa Mendoza looked very straightforward and convincing when winning here back in July. Her trainer Kevin Condon was very positive about her future and Teresa Mendoza looks the each way play.

4.10 Curragh – National Stakes Group 1 (7f)
Battleground is looking to score his third win in succession and this son of Found can take his first Group 1. Battleground was well beaten on debut over six furlongs, however the step up to seven furlongs has really worked with his victory in the Chesham at Royal Ascot and most strikingly his performance at Goodwood in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes. He was tipped up in my Unibet blog on that occasion and was always travelling smoothly, ahead of coming from off the pace to beat Devious Company comfortably. He will obviously get further in the future and in the meantime can strike over this trip.
Unibet 5/2 win
4.40 Curragh – Irish St Leger Group 1 (1m6f)
The lightly raced six-year-old Fujaira Prince has been given the opportunity this year to show how good he really is and how good he could become. His seasonal debut success at Royal Ascot over today’s trip was impressive enough to put him at the top of the market in the Ebor where he came through to win after travelling well. This is admittedly a different proposition, yet he is just off the top rated here Sovereign here and can make the trip worthwhile for the Roger Varian team.
