Day Two of the Irish Champions Weekend with a Group 2 and four Group 1s on an excellent card at the Curragh. I look forward to seeing Love return to winning ways in the Group 2, whilst Point Lonsdale Unibet 1/2 is heavily odds on to take the National Stakes Group 1, with Duke De Sessa the each way play. In contrast the Irish St Leger looks very open with no standout candidate and plenty with chances.
The Curragh will have 4,000 racegoers with a dry day forecast.
Enjoy at the Curragh and #athome.
Cheers

2.20 Curragh – Moyglare Jewels Blandford Stakes (Group 2) 1m 2f
Love can return to winning ways after finishing third to the sensational Mishriff at York, when travelling much more smoothly than she did at Ascot in the King George V1 And Queen Elizabeth Stakes when also third behind Adayar after never looking comfortable throughout.
Love won at Royal Ascot on seasonal debut, has the strongest form here and can hold off the very progressive La Petite Coco.
Unibet 11/10 win
2.55 Curragh – Flying Five Group 1 (5f)
Glass Slippers (nap) won this contest last year on good ground and can follow up in similar conditions, holding off her main rival Winter Power, who won the Nunthorpe. Glass Slippers comes to life in the autumn and is campaigned accordingly with this year having one start in the Qatar Stakes at Goodwood, when finishing an excellent third to Suesa. She would have been closer as she just couldn’t get a clear run two furlongs out.
Unibet 11/4 win
3.30 Curragh – Moyglare Stud Stakes Group 1 (7f)
Sunset Shiraz has two lengths to find with Agartha on Curragh form last time (well clear of the rest) but wasn’t best placed the way that race panned out when held up, with the winner making all. However, Sunset Shiraz certainly took a good step forward on what she had previously achieved, and she looks to be going the right way. Sunset Shiraz looks very straightforward, has a good attitude and has strong each way claims.
Unibet 8/1 each way
4.05 Curragh – National Stakes Group 1 (7f)
Duke De Sessa is the each-way play against Point Lonsdale, as he really impressed when scoring over a mile last time on his second career start and this son of Lope De Vega won’t be affected by dropping back to 7f. The Dermot Weld team have a smart prospect here.
Unibet 9/1 each way
4.40 Curragh – Irish St Leger Group 1 (1m 6f)
Search For A Song will be wound up for this race as she goes for her hat-trick in the Irish St Leger. She is admittedly not the most consistent and didn’t go so well on her last start over a shorter trip, having run well on her seasonal debut finishing second one place ahead of Twilight Payment. She will of course come on plenty for her last appearance though, has plenty of strong performances from last year too and is ground versatile, which not many of her rivals are.
Unibet 5/1
Barrington Court shaped well in the St Leger Trial when fourth behind Twilight Payment in yielding conditions and looks sure to come on for that run. We know he stays well over two miles on the flat, so no stamina doubts and he finished second to Princess Zoe last year. Providing he can be effective in the quicker conditions, which he should be, then he has a good each way chance in this open renewal.
