WE are in a rich period for great flat horses and Stradivarius, like Enable, has drawn the public appeal, receiving a great reception in the winner’s enclosure yesterday.

Today Too Darn Hot can follow up for John Gosden and Frankie Dettori, whilst Lil Rockerfeller, one of my favourite horses in training, can repeat his victory in the Unibet Goodwood

Handicap.

My racecourse tip on the imbibing side is the English Sparkling Coates & Seely Brut Reserve served from magnum. Cheers!

1.50 Unibet Goodwood Handicap 2m 4f

Lil Rockerfeller (nap) would have won this for trainer Neil King with two stone more on his back last year so the fact he’s rated 99 now (82 last year) is of no consequence. Quite simply, trained for one flat race a year and this is it. Unless he throws it away at the start, he’ll take an awful lot of beating again.

Unibet win 4/1 win

2.25 Goodwood Unibet Handicap 1m 4f

Durston makes plenty of appeal in a competitive contest and can strike from the foot of the weights. He is two from two in this division and I’m sure the holding up tactics will be employed again with Jamie Spencer in the plate. He has a good chance here.

Unibet each way 6/1

Severance received an abysmal ride at Newmarket last time when sent well clear before fading tamely. He can pull hard, so a fast pace would help him no end and runs behind some top quality horses in previous two starts reads well. Drawn nicely in stall four and a definite each way chance.

Unibet each way 25/1

3.35 Goodwood Qatar Sussex Stakes Group One (British Champions Series) 1m

Too Darn Hot has been given an excellent opportunity here and can follow in the footsteps of Enable and Stradivarius for the John Gosden and Frankie Dettori partnership.

After three placed efforts this season Too Darn Hot showed his true class when winning in eye catching style at Deauville last time out and will build on that performance today.

Unibet win 5/4

4.10 Goodwood Fillies’ Handicap 5f

Flippa The Strippa ran very respectably in the Group 2 Queen Mary, with form that’s already working out well. She takes a big step down in grade here and even with the 3lb penalty, has the form to take her close again.

Unibet win 11/4

5.55 Goodwood Handicap 7f

Blackheath finally got off the mark for the year at Leicester and seemed to handle Epsom well enough the time before so should be fine here, still unexposed over 7f so 5lb rise for latest win fair. Looks like he has more to come and a good each way shout in a wide open contest.

Unibet each way 17/2
