WHAT a day at Goodwood yesterday with Deirdre securing an historic success for Japan and Khadijah Mellah winning the Magnolia Cup.

We can look forward to another fantastic day with the wonderful Battaash going for his third consecutive success in the King George Qatar Stakes and I look forward to him winning and getting his rightful adulation from a massive Friday crowd.

1.50 Goodwood Group 3 7f

Jubiloso for Sir Michael Stoute already has the best form in the race after her third in the Coronation, is improving, step back to 7f not an issue and is going to be hard to beat, with question marks against many of her rivals

Unibet 5/4 win

2.25 Goodwood Group 3 1m

Biometric spoilt the party at Royal Ascot when collaring Turgenev and Frankie right on the line in the Britannia and although they reoppose today Biometric can come out on top.

He is progressive, with career figures of 1121 and today’s trip, the same as Royal Ascot, will suit, in what is sure to be fastly run race so he can come with a late challenge.

3.00 Goodwood Unibet Gold Mile Handicap 1m Hcp

Mojito (nap) for William Haggas is the favourite but rightly so, keeps improving, well enough drawn in stall 9, ground ideal and only gets a 3lb penalty for Sandown win. Will be ridden prominently in a race lacking a lot of pace and could be hard to beat if he doesn’t bounce after returning from a long layoff.

Unibet 7/2 win

Indeed looks a good each way shout, despite a wide draw, in a very competitive contest.

He really impressed me when winning at flat HQ last month over today’s trip and he is proving a very good import from France for Dominic Frrench-Davis, with form figures of 211.

He can continue his upward trajectory this afternoon.

3.35 King George Qatar Stakes Group 2 5f

The magnificent Battaash wins of course, with El Astronaute surely booked for a place. John Quinn has recently campaigned his six-year-old in Ireland with two wins and a second in a Group 2 last time out. Drawn in stall 5 and with Battaash in stall 3 El Astronaute looks sure to set this up for Battaash to win for third time and this course and distance winner can chase him home.

4.10 Goodwood 6f Nursery

Mark Johnston is having his usual good week and his Praexology has twice made all to win and stall 7 is workable for the hat-trick. This will be the fastest ground he’s come across yet, but chance is there to see.

Unibet win 100/30

5.15 Goodwood Handicap 1m 3f

Aktau will definitely win races and is improving with each run. Today another furlong a huge help and despite bumping into a Group horse at Sandown still ran really well and looks on a fair mark.
