A MOUTH-WATERING afternoon of racing ahead at Newmarket, the home of flat racing, with their two Group 1s the Cheveley Park and the Middle Park plus the Group 2 Royal Lodge. These Group races are followed by the Cambridgeshire over one mile and one furlong with a full field of 35 runners.

It has been great to be presenting at the Cambridgeshire meeting with perfect weather conditions at the Rowley Mile and also to be working with the fantastic team at Newmarket again.

Enjoy #athome or on the Rowley Mile.

Cheers

1.50 Newmarket – Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes Group 2 (1m)

Masekela looks the one to beat here after his second in the Superlative Stakes to Native Trial (won Group 1 Vincent O’Brien next time out) at the July meeting when challenging late on over seven furlongs. Masekela went on to win a Listed contest at Newbury next time out, beating Bayside Boy (Champagne Stakes winner at St Leger meeting on next start) over the same trip. The very quick conditions will suit and Masekela will benefit from the step up to a mile.

Unibet 13/8 win

2.25 Newmarket – Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes Group 1 (6f)

Sacred Bridge is unbeaten in her four career starts and trainer Ger Lyons doesn’t venture to Britain very often, so it is interesting that he earmarked the Cheveley Park as a likely target after her most recent easy Group 3 success at the Curragh. Sacred Bridge is getting better all the time and she has won on good to firm.

3.00 Newmarket – Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes Group 1 (6f)

Caturra will appreciate the return to six furlongs after winning the Flying Childers over five furlongs beating Armor (reopposes today) after finishing off strongly on good to firm. Caturra can continue to improve, is learning all time and has strong each way claims.

3.40 Newmarket – Cambridgeshire Handicap (Heritage Handicap) 1m 1f

Astro King (nap) can take the Cambridgeshire and gain the big Handicap success he deserves as this trip looks spot on for this four-year-old colt. He won at Nottingham on his first start of the season and has subsequently run some strong races in defeat, including his second (tipped in my Unibet blog) at Royal Ascot in the Hunt Cup to the very smart Real World. Astro King didn’t stay on his next start over 1m2½f and then on his last appearance over a mile when third (tipped in my Unibet blog) at the Ebor meeting he showed he really needed this trip. This is only his sixth start of the season, and the fast conditions will be ideal.

Unibet 15/2 each way

Long Tradition can run a big race from the favoured high draw for Saeed bin Suroor, on only his fifth career start. Long Tradition won easily at Chelmsford in July on his most recent appearance after a gelding operation and has surely been saved with this race in mind. On his penultimate start he finished second over one mile two furlongs on good to firm and this four-year-old has plenty of improvement to come.

Unibet 12/1 each way

Jean Baptiste looks overpriced, haven’t beaten Lucander (reopposes today, 2020 runner-up) over one mile two furlongs in a Class 2 in soft ground on the Rowley Mile in May, however, has performed well on good to firm earlier in the season.

Had a good comeback effort at Chester when third after a break this month and this should tee him up nicely here. Drawn 5, he looks the pace angle of those drawn low and with Unibet paying six places he can reward each way players.

Unibet 66/1 each way
