HAYDOCK’S big jumps card of the season certainly has the quality, with an intriguing renewal of the feature and there are plenty of exciting types in the other races too. The governing factor on this card might not be the overall form but the ability to handle the weather conditions with 27mm of rain currently forecast on the Norwegian weather app for Haydock after a dry Friday. Let us hope that this doesn’t prove to be the case as there is such a high level of racing to look forward to and with good field sizes.
Over at Punchestown, the feature is the Unibet Morgiana Hurdle Grade 1 run over two miles and half a furlong in which State Man Unibet 4/6 can come out on top here.
Enjoy whether at a Haydock or Punchestown or watching #athome on ITV Racing and Racing TV.
Cheers

1:15 Haydock – Handicap Hurdle (2m 3f)
Josh The Boss was the winner of the Silver Trophy at Chepstow on his reappearance and look how that has worked out – no less than six winners from those in behind, with second Doyen Quest winning comfortably at Cheltenham last weekend and third home Take No Chances winning the Listed Mares Hurdle at Wetherby. It’s as rock-solid form as you’ll get, and for Josh The Boss to only get away with a 7lb rise for it is fair, whilst the heavy ground won’t be a hindrance to him.
2:30 Haydock – Stayers’ Handicap Hurdle (3m ½f)
Catch Him Derry, is fully proven at the trip in deep ground, and came back from his summer break to win very easily at Newton Abbot last month when taking up the lead at the last and never coming off the bridle. Catch Him Derry has won both of his starts over this trip at Southwell and Ayr respectively in the heavy and soft. The more rain the better for his chance, and he can take on his stablemate Doyen Quest, who won so smoothy at Cheltenham, however, is encountering this type of going for the first time.
Unibet are paying an EXTRA PLACE in this race!
The Impostor was last seen in December 2023 when successful in a Class 3 at Chepstow in the heavy over just under three miles to make it six wins on the bounce. Since November 2022 his form figures are 31112111/111-, which has seen him go from a mark of 76 to 125 in ground conditions of heavy, soft and good to soft.
The Impostor was always doing enough at the finish at Chepstow when giving the impression he could easily make the step up to a different level and providing he is sharp enough for his reappearance after nearly a year off he can reward each way players with conditions in his favour.
3:05 Haydock – Chase Grade 1 (3m ½f)
Royale Pagaille won this last year when beating Bravemansgame by six and a half lengths, taking his overall Haydock record to four wins from five starts here, so this is very much his track. He can be hard to galvanise at times but all he does is stay in heavy ground, and this test will once again be right up his street, which isn’t something you can say about too many of his opponents. It is worth noting that this ten-year-old only started racing in graded company as a seven-year-old and he can follow up on his 2023 success.
3.40 Haydock – Handicap Chase (3m 1½f)
Le Milos (nap) started this season over fences, having been campaigned over hurdles for his three appearances last season, when running well for a long way in the big handicap chase at Cheltenham on the Saturday of their Showcase meeting. He has been dropped to a mark of 144 from 147 and with him coming down in grade too he has a strong chance of gaining his first success since winning the big handicap chase at Newbury in November 2022.
