Jonbon finished second in the Champion Chase after making a very bad mistake out in the country and he looks sure to bounce back to winning form here against his three rivals El Fabiolo, Protektorat and Matata.

Enjoy whether at Aintree or watching #athome on ITV Racing and Racing TV.

See you there!

1.45 Aintree – Huyton Asphalt Franny Blennerhassett Memorial Mildmay Novices’ Chase Grade 1 (3m1f)

Handstands is one impressive individual, who looks stronger every time he races and on the course he has a relentless galloping style, coupled with a great attitude to racing.

On his most recent appearance he won the Scilly Isles at Sandown, beating Arkle winner Jango Baie by half a length when showing plenty of determination.

The step back up to three miles and a furlong isn’t an issue at all, having already won over three miles at Sandown in December and he looks the one to beat.

2.20 Aintree – Handicap Hurdle (2m 4f)

Wreckless Eric is stepping up to the distance for the first time and back in November at Cheltenham he won over two miles and half a furlong when powering up the hill, giving every indication he can step up to this trip. He has carried on being in good form too with a second at Cheltenham behind a runaway leader in December and on his most recent appearance he was runner-up in the Imperial Cup at Sandown, when beaten half a length by Go Dante after being short of room at the last. He has all the ability to be a big player, is proven on the ground and will get the trip.

Off The Jury is still a maiden over hurdles with form figures of 22302 and his only blip was running out at the last at Wetherby when he was going to be placed. He’s an ideal drop out type for this race and looked the winner at Sandown last time out, when coming from off the pace to lead after the last on the run-in to only then get mugged on the line by Laurens Bay. He has definite each way claims at a minimum.

4.05 Aintree – Randox Supporting Prostate Cancer UK Topham Handicap Chase (2m 5f)

Bad became frustrating over hurdles as he clearly had the talent and despite looking like the winner on a couple of occasions he didn’t get his head in front in some good races. Over fences he is a very different proposition and with the application of blinkers everything has come together with wins on his last two starts at Kempton in February and March.

Bad’s last success when he and Flegmatik (a good marker) drew clear of a good field was visually impressive. He jumped well and moving ahead after the last, staying on right up to the line to beat his rival by half a length racing enthusiastically. This is very much his trip, and you can see this strong travelling type taking to the Grand National fences.

Lounge Lizard was fifth in the 2023 Becher Chase in desperate ground, which wouldn’t have suited him and this better ground is in his favour. He comes here off the back of a confidence-boosting win at Huntingdon last month and can go well on his return to Aintree.
