THE final day of the three-day Moët & Chandon July Festival, with the July Cup as this feature. I really hope that Golden Horde can follow up his Royal Ascot success and give Clive Cox another July Cup victory. Earlier, the Superlative Stakes looks very intriguing and I’m following Mark Johnston here, whilst the Bunbury Cup Handicap is a great way to finish the July Festival. There is good racing at Ascot too of course with the Group 2 Summer Mile Stakes as the feature.
TV viewing figures have been excellent, and I hope everyone will dress up, have a picnic, enjoy a glass of bubbles and get involved on social media for what is another top Saturday of racing coverage.
In The Wine Tipster household, we will be ready and I’m looking forward to celebrating a winner or two with a glass of Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2012.
Cheers
The Wine Tipster.
1.50 – Newmarket Handicap (1m)
Finest Sound deserves his place at the head of the market after finishing second to the super impressive Khaloosy in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out. Finest Sound was four lengths clear of the third so this form looks rock solid. He had shown his well-being at Haydock on his previous start when winning by over five lengths on his seasonal debut on good to soft. He is very straightforward, progressive and has ground conditions to suit.
Unibet 9/4 win
3.00 – Newmarket Superlative Stakes Group 2 (7f)
King Zain for the Mark Johnston team really caught the eye when going away smoothly at Kempton on his one career start. There was plenty to like about his attitude and remember his sire Kingman won on all types of going. King Zain was really visually impressive and looks better than those further up the market.

3.15 – Ascot Summer Mile Stakes Group 2 (1m)
Mohatther is a smart performer and his four and half lengths seventh to Circus Maximus at Royal Ascot in the Queen Anne Stakes doesn’t tell the story as he encountered lots of traffic problems. Mohatther always looked like he was travelling well, yet Jim Crowley could find no where to go on several occasions.
This four- year -old had demonstrated his ability previously, winning the Greenham Stakes last year at Newbury, then had a break before finishing fifth to King Of Change on Champions Day.
He is ground versatile and has a good chance here to return to winning form.
Unibet 5/2 win
3.35 – Newmarket Darley July Cup Group 1 (6f)
Clive Cox’s Golden Horde (nap) can follow up his Commonwealth Cup success at Royal Ascot here in the July Cup. I tipped up Golden Horde in my Unibet column for Ascot based on his form, particularly from the Middle Park Stakes, his improvement, determination and ground versatility.
He showed all of these qualities at Royal Ascot when hitting the front from half-way and simply looking the winner. This is his first start on the July course, and it looks sure to suit Clive Cox’s charge, who can emulate his sire Lethal Force, who holds the course record.
Unibet 17/8 win
For those of you wanting to look at an each-way then Oxted winner of the Abernant Stakes on the Rowley Mile is my selection. Remember he bypassed Royal Ascot for the July Cup.
Unibet 12/1 each-way
4.10 – Newmarket Bunbury Cup Handicap (7f)
Muntadab for the Roger Fell team is having his third start of July, having won at Epsom last weekend when always near the head of the race at a track which didn’t 100% suit him. The handicapper only raised him from a mark of 87 and 90 and there is no penalty. He is right down the bottom of the weights, has a decent draw against the stands rails too and has for form figures since racing resumed of 221. Acts on all ground, lot to like about his chance over his ideal trip.
Unibet 16/1 each-way
Sir Busker is going for a three-timer for William Knight, having won at Newcastle and then Royal Ascot both over a mile. He has won good to soft so going will be no problem.
He has gone up the ratings of course, however there is plenty more to come.
