IT WAS great to slam home both a winning NAP and the Sussex Stakes winner Mohaather for you all on day two, and day three sees a fascinating renewal of the Nassau Stakes as there are seven hold-up horses in the race here so even though this could still become a big tactical affair I’m not put off selecting Nazeef, who has made such great progress this season.

The Gordon Stakes is intriguing as English King had in my view lost the Derby before the start as he looked like he was boiling over and then he pulled hard in the race. Many will look at the tactics of the Derby as the reason for English King finishing fifth, however the other reasons were more important in this case. I’m still very confident in his ability and I can see him coming from off the pace to strike.

The coverage has been superb and I’m looking forward to day three of #GloriousAtHome.

Well done Goodwood.

Cheers

1.10 – Handicap (5f)

Show Me Show Me he’s slowly running himself back into form, now rated 2lb lower than when third to Liberty Beach in the Molecomb last year. Cheekpieces on, faster they go early the better and first race back at Goodwood since the Molecomb.

Zabeel Champion can score a three-timer for the Mark Johnston team.

He won a Newmarket handicap at the July Festival in good style when going away at the finish. Zabeel Champion has gone up eight pounds for that success, yet this contest looks well within his compass.

2.15 – Goodwood Richmond Group 2 (6f)

Yazaman can take his first Pattern race after three impressive career starts of 122.On his last two starts Yazaman has finished runner-up to the very smart Tactical at Royal Ascot and Newmarket’s July Festival respectively. He showed on debut at York that he can win on good ground.

2.45 Goodwood Gordon Stakes Group 3 (1m4f)

English King can reverse form with Derby second Khalifa Sat, who is twice a winner at Goodwood. Front runners have been favoured this week so far, yet I can see English King coming from off the pace here. Remember his Lingfield Trial success when he looked so visually impressive and he clocked those very good speed figures. English King still has lots of potential and Frankie Dettori takes the ride again.

3.15 Goodwood Qatar Nassau Stakes Group 1 (1m2f)

Nazeef experienced her only defeat on debut and since then she has won six starts showing fantastic progress in 2020, with three of those successes this year. Nazeef won on seasonal debut and then I napped her for the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot where she looked very smart. I inexplicably deserted Nazeef for The Falmouth at the July Festival, where she was pushed out to win. Importantly, she is very ground versatile too.

William Bligh (nap) looks a class above the rest of this field. He looked at a different level breaking his maiden tag at Haydock and also very straightforward too.

On his previous start, he finished second Master Of The Seas at Newmarket, with the winner going to take the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at the July Festival. William Bligh’s mark of 87 simply looks too low and no wonder Ralph Beckett goes here rather than Group company.
