FRIDAY night at Del Mar on the first day of the Breeders’ Cup and we can look forward to an exciting evening of Juvenile racing. Saturday domestically sees Wincanton’s big day with the Badger Beer, the November Handicap at Doncaster and an excellent card at Aintree, including the Grand Sefton. Two of my jump horses to follow this season run at Aintree, with Hillcrest in the ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle at 12.33 and Onchan in the Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase at 1.40.
Saturday night enjoy the fantastic racing from Del Mar on day two of the Breeders’ Cup.
Enjoy whether at a racecourse or #athome.
Cheers!
The Wine Tipster.
Breeders’ Cup Friday
9.50 Del Mar – Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Grade 2 (5f)
Averly Jane for Wesley Ward is unbeaten and can retain that record here.
She has blazing early speed, which is her main asset, so even from gate 8 she can get across and lead these, with Vertiginous (gate 4) her only stumbling block inside. Averly Jane thrashed stablemate Kaufymaker (reopposes here) in the Indian Summer (a good trial for this) last time, geared down late to win as she liked.
Unibet 9/4 win
Armor for Unibet Ambassador Richard Hannon ran very well in the Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket when third to Perfect Power in a tightly grouped finish over six furlongs on good to firm. Armor won over this trip at the Qatar Goodwood Festival, and he has definite each way claims.

10.30 Del Mar – Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Grade 1 (1m ½f)
Echo Zulu can dominate this small field with little pace, so this looks set up for her to make all. She has already beaten Sequist and Tarabi in the Spinaway (solid trial) at Saratoga and then was just as impressive at Belmont stepped up to a mile last time when leading all the way. Echo Zulu will take plenty of beating.
Unibet 10/11 win
11.10 Del Mar – Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf Grade 1 (1m)
Hello You for David Loughnane can follow up on her Group 2 success in the Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on good to firm last month. She came from off the pace that day and gave the impression that there is plenty more improvement to come. The step up to a mile will suit and providing Hello You can cope with the preliminaries she has a good chance in a competitive contest.

Breeders’ Cup Saturday
7.40 Del Mar – Breeders’ Cup Sprint Turf Grade 1 (5f)
Emaraaty Ana (nap) for Kevin Ryan is peaking at the right time and if he can tuck in behind the pace from a good draw in gate 2, he can use that extra bit of stamina he has to get up late. Emaraaty Ana has shown genuine Group 1 form on his last two starts and as much as the American horses are quick, remember Golden Pal (considered one of their better chances here) was well back behind Emaraaty Ana in the Nunthorpe.
Unibet 5/1 win
8.59 Del Mar – Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf Grade 1 (1m 3f)
Love is running in the right race here rather than the Turf. She’ll find the opposition less taxing, but there’s no pace on, and she’s got a golden chance to lead these pillar to post. For all she might not quite be the force of old, her form this season is still of a very high level and with conditions to suit, she can score.
Unibet 7/2 win
9.38 Del Mar – Breeders' Cup Sprint Grade 1 (6f)
Jackie’s Warrior from gate 2 can strike stepping out of three-year-old company for the first time. Jackie’s Warrior beat Life Is Good (runs in Dirt Mile and well fancied) on his penultimate start in the Grade 1 at Saratoga showing plenty of class and resolution. He then won easily over this trip last time out in September and can make it four wins from his last four starts.
Unibet 11/10 win
10.20 Del Mar – Breeders’ Cup Mile Grade 1 (1m)
Smooth Like Strait twice narrowly denied by Mo Forza (reopposes again, likes to challenge late, which could be tricky) on his last two starts, but he’s got the draw in stall 2 and gate speed to get himself into a better position here. You can then expect Smooth Like Strait to track the likely leader Blowout early before kicking on in the straight and get this wrapped up before the closers get going. Remember he is a Grade 1 winner this season.

11.40 Del Mar – Breeders’ Cup Turf Grade 1 (1m 4f)
Tarnawa can show all her class here and win despite being drawn high. Last year’s winner at Keeneland will have to be at her very best and this five-year-old has shown herself to be in great order this season when unlucky behind St Mark’s Basilica on seasonal debut. Then the ground wasn’t quick enough at Longchamp in the Arc when she was second behind Torquator Tasso. Tactically she can drop in and challenge late with her tremendous turn of foot over this ideal trip.
Unibet 11/8 win
Rockemperor for Chad Brown won a Grade 1 at Belmont Park last time out when coming with a late challenge to win smoothly with Japan, Gufo and Channel Maker, who all reoppose today, in behind. If Rockemperor can follow up that performance, he has each way claims from gate 1.
