THE Qatar Goodwood Festival 2022 has seen some great performances and stories which will remain long in the memory. It has been a Glorious Goodwood and the final day promises to be as competitive as ever with the 28-runner Stewards’ Cup.
Earlier in the afternoon the Stewards’ Sprint Handicap sees the The Magnolia Cup winner Dark Shot making a quick reappearance after being ridden to victory by Ashleigh Wicheard. Don’t ignore Dark Shot at Unibet 33/1 each way as he won comfortably on Thursday and had an easy race.

1.40 Goodwood – Stewards’ Sprint Handicap (Consolation Race for the Stewards’ Cup) (6f)
Lethal Levi won for the third time last Saturday at Newmarket on the July course this season when keeping on well. He makes a quick reappearance and Lethal Levi can score here on his first appearance at Goodwood running off a one-pound lower mark than at Newmarket in a race where the opposition look mainly short of recent winning form.

2.10 Goodwood – Summer Handicap (1m 6f)
Cemhaan (nap) really impressed when winning at the Guineas Festival at Newmarket over this trip and he was then marked up on his next start in my Unibet column each way at Royal Ascot for the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes Handicap when finishing unplaced after not getting a clear run on a few occasions. Cemhaan is better than that appearance and has strong each way claims over this trip on quick ground for the inform George Baker team.

Red Flyer appreciated the step up to this distance at Newmarket last time out when running a career best to finish a short head second to Soapy Stevens and they reoppose here on the same terms with Red Flyer more than twice the price. Back in May, Red Flyer beat Bague D’Or, who also reopposes, on Newmarket’s Rowley Mile and Red Flyer certainly handled Goodwood when fourth to HMS President over one mile four furlongs. Red Flyer cannot be overlooked here and he is definitely worth an each way play.

2.45 Goodwood – Qatar Lilly Langtry Stakes (Group 2) (1m 6f)
Viola represents each way value in a Group 2 that is more open than the betting suggests, as she finished a close second to Sea La Rosa at Haydock in May. She was third at Newmarket next time out also over mile four furlongs when looking like a step up in distance again would suit and Viola can get right in the mix here.

3.20 Goodwood – Stewards’ Cup (6f)
Inver Park has won three times from five starts and hasn’t been out the first three since moving to George Boughey in March this year. Last time out Inver Park completed a hat-trick in the 29-runner Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on good to firm, having won over six furlongs in May at Hamilton and Windsor. Inver Park is running off a four-pound higher mark at 98, however that won’t stop this four-year-old from delivering a strong performance here from stall 15.

Mr Wagyu has a fantastic record in June and July and 2022 has been no different for this seven-year-old winning at the Cazoo Derby Festival, then finishing 4th in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot ahead of heading to the Curragh to win a big seventeen runner handicap under another good ride by Jason Hart for John Quinn (won on Tuesday). Last year Mr Wagyu won the Stewards’ Cup consolation race so importantly has that course form and stall 20 will work well with plenty of pace from runners nearby.

Tinto joined the Michael Dods yard at the start of the season and has form figures of 6113 with wins at Thirsk and Ripon. Last time out Tinto finished third to Justanotherbottle at Ripon, who reopposes here and whilst he is not the most consistent Tinto has shown he can really rattle home on a good day from off the pace at Goodwood. He has good each way claims from stall 18.
