IT is day two of the Dubai Future Champions Festival at Newmarket and the Unibet Jumps Season Opener at Chepstow.

At Newmarket in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes Group 1 Native Trial is odds-on 4/6 Unibet and rightfully heading the market. Native Trial won on debut on Sandown and has since added two Group races, including the National Stakes at the Curragh, where he left the previously unbeaten Point Lonsdale in the dust and clocking a massive speed figure in the process. Native Trial looks the best of these by some way and can only enhance his reputation.

Coroebus is a strong favourite at odds-on 8/11 Unibet for the Autumn Stakes after his second to Royal Patronage in a dramatic Royal Lodge at the Cambridgeshire meeting.

The Cesarewitch is one of my favourite races of the year and if Willie Mullins wins the 2021 Cesarewitch he will be the first trainer in more than one hundred years to equal four wins in this famous race. Last year I tipped up Great White Shark in my Unibet Racing blog and have included Burning Victory, another Willie Mullins runner this year.

At Chepstow there is a very competitive jumps card on the second day of the Unibet Jumps Season Opener at Chepstow and I’m particularly looking forward to seeing Manofthemountain.

1.45 Newmarket – Zetland Stakes Group 3 (1m 2f)

Unconquerable will be favoured by the drying ground and stepped up on anything achieved previously when third in the Royal Lodge last time behind Royal Patronage and Coroebus, staying on well late over a mile after giving the winner an easy time on the front. Unconquerable is more experienced than his rivals and this step up in distance is ideal.

2.20 Newmarket – Autumn Stakes Group 3 (1m)

United Nations for the Aidan O’Brien team impressed on debut when winning at Naas In September. This son of Galileo looks an exciting prospect and is the each way selection here with Coroebus a solid favourite.

2.25 Chepstow – Native River Handicap Chase (2m 7½f)

Cobra de Mai had his first start for the Caroline Bailey team last month at Warwick and ran well to finish fourth when getting tired late on after being right in the mix. This was an encouraging performance and he will come on plenty with the drying ground ideal. The handicapper dropped him four pounds so interesting that they have decided to run here rather than dropping down a grade.

3.35 Newmarket – Cesarewitch Heritage Handicap (2m 2f)

Calling The Wind (nap) has been laid out for this and has a strong chance from stall 27 (24 and 23 winning stall numbers in the last five years), which should be fine. We know that Calling The Wind gets the trip as he ran a blinder behind Stratum at Royal Ascot in the Queen Alexandra and then won at Goodwood on good going beating Withhold (reopposes) with an impressive turn of foot. This five-year-old was given a pipe opener at Newbury last month over 1m 4f finishing second to Makram.

Burning Victory won a Grade 3 at Leopardstown and was a very fortunate winner of the Triumph Hurdle after Goshen unseated Jamie Moore at the last hurdle, yet she is clearly very smart in both codes. Since Cheltenham Burning Victory has competed in some high-level hurdles and won twice on the flat over two miles in good style, particularly looking impressive on her last start on Deauville in August. This has looked the target, with ground conditions in her favour and this mare has strong each way claims off 9st 1lb from stall 25.

Goobinator has won his last two starts, is improving all the time and looks overlooked in the market. On his penultimate start he stayed on well to win at York and then followed up at Haydock over two miles beating a good field including Snowalot (reopposes) in fourth. Goobinator is ground versatile and Donald McCain has his yard in good form.

4.05 Chepstow – John Ayres Memorial Handicap Chase (2m 3½f)

Manofthemountain for the inform Emma Lavelle team is the winner of five of his nine chase starts to date and when he is good is very good.  He won first time up last year at Bangor and continued to progress in the spring, winning well at Cheltenham’s April meeting, where he could be called winner a long way out. Manofthemountain will relish this ground and this eight-year-old might not have reached his ceiling yet.
