Breeders' Cup Special

THE Breeders’ Cup 2025 takes place at Del Mar, where the surf meets the turf for the second year running, and it is going to be a very exciting two days.

Enjoy, whether at Del Mar or watching #athome on Racing TV and Attheraces.

Cheers!

Friday Breeders’ Cup 2025 at Del Mar

9.45pm Del Mar – Juvenile Turf Sprint Grade 1 (5f)

Lennilu was third to True Love in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot when ridden prominently and has won all her other starts, including at Gulfstream Park on her penultimate appearance over six furlongs when showing plenty of determination to hold off Finding Strength.

On her most recent start at the end of last month, she was back over the minimum trip at Gulfstream Park, where they went off at a fast early pace, and Lennilu challenged from second spot to then move clear and win by nearly two lengths.

Lennilu is in stall 12, which isn’t the best draw; however, she can be ridden prominently or come from the pace, and you can expect a big run.

11.45pm Del Mar – Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Presented By Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Grade 1 (1m Dirt)

Ted Noffey is going to take some beating, having won his first three starts well on the clock and visually too.

On his career debut over six and a half furlongs, he won at Saratoga, then followed up with a Grade 1 win in the Hopeful Stakes over seven furlongs at the same course by eight and a half lengths, with his most recent victory at the beginning of the month in the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland over this distance.

He has shown a great attitude in his races and looks a strong favourite.

Unibet are paying an EXTRA PLACE in this race!

Saturday Breeders’ Cup 2025 at Del Mar

9.01pm Del Mar – Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff – Grade 1 (1m 1f Dirt)

Gin Gin has been rejuvenated by a change of yard, and this filly has form figures of 1241 since April this year, with her most eye-catching performance after a 99-day break when winning in early October the Grade 1 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes at Keeneland at 20/1 over this distance, with Nitrogen second and Scylla third, who both reoppose here.

Nitrogen is Unibet 3/1 and obviously much shorter in the betting than Gin Gin, with Seismic Beauty a strong favourite.

Gin Gin is overlooked a bit in the market, is in the best form of her career, and if coming on from her Keeneland victory she is right in the mix to chase home the favourite Seismic Beauty.

9.41pm Del Mar – Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf – Grade 1 (1m 4f)

Rebel’s Romance (nap) is a remarkable seven-year-old who is going for his third Breeders’ Cup Turf after winning at Keeneland in 2022 and here at Del Mar in 2024 in grand style when ridden prominently throughout and then moving forward to lead from two furlongs out to just hold on from Rousham Park.

He has had the ideal prep run at Belmont at the end of last month when winning the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Stakes (Grade 1) by three and a half lengths over this distance.

Rebel’s Romance is taken to finish ahead of Minnie Hauk, who had a hard race in the Arc, and he can continue the trend of this being a race for European raiders, with 14 of the last 18 runnings going their way.

Gold Phoenix is a seven-year-old, like Rebel’s Romance, and is running in his fourth Breeders’ Cup Turf, having finished fourth in the last two renewals. He loves this course and has won his last two starts, including taking the Del Mar Handicap Grade 2 for the fourth time.  Gold Phoenix won’t be winning, though he does look good for a place at a big price.

10.25pm Del Mar – Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Grade 1 (1m 2f Dirt)

Journalism will be given less to do here than he was when second here to Fierceness over this trip at Del Mar having to come from the back of the field.  Sovereignty beat Journalism at Saratoga when the latter was favourite and unfortunately, we are deprived of seeing this superstar in the race now.

Journalism has three wins and three seconds on his last six starts in 2025, and he can reverse form with Fierceness, as well beat the 2024 winner Sierra Leone.

SUPER BOOST: Unibet are BOOSTING the price of EVERY runner in this race!

11.05pm Del Mar – Breeders’ Cup Mile Presented by PDJF – Grade 1 (1m Turf)

Notable Speech secured his first win on his fifth start in 2025 in the Grade 1 Woodbine Mile Stakes at Woodbine over this distance in September when showing a really good turn of foot once he hit the straight to win by one-and three-quarter lengths in what was not the strongest Grade 1.

It has to be pointed out, though, that he really showed some speed as a reminder of what he is capable of achieving and was really suited by Woodbine.

Last year he was third in this race to More Than Looks and Johannes (reopposes), and you feel he is coming here in great shape, with the ability to hold off the main danger, Sahlan.
