Star Style (Pat Dobbs)

I admit, this is not the most conventional way into a 1000 Guineas but we’ve always thought a great deal of her and she was extremely impressive at Newbury on her first run. There’s no doubt this is a massive step up, but there is only one Guineas and we wanted to give her the chance. If she wins, we will also be absolutely delighted, but if she doesn’t, it was worth taking the ‘risk’ . She is a very big filly, which is why she didn’t run as a two-year-old, and whatever happens here we are confident we have a nice filly for the rest of the season. Julie (Wood, owner) is not one to shirk a challenge, that’s what she’s in the game for, and I truly hope she can run a great race for her, if no one else.

Miss Collada (Sean Levey)

She ran a very nice race on debut at Windsor and has come on a lot for it. It’s understandably a very good Fillies’ Novice, but she is pretty smart and I’d be hopeful that she’ll be there or thereabouts.

The Actor (Sean Levey)

He’s always been quite forward and I was delighted with his debut over course and distance where he wasn’t given a particularly hard race to finish second. He’s not that big, but has improved plenty for his first run and is a proper two-year-old.

We’ve got a couple of runners down at Salisbury and I’ll be very disappointed if Sam Hawkens isn’t capable of winning the 5:05.
