IT’S a very quiet Saturday for us with just one runner, Cayman Tai, in the 5:00 at Lingfield. He ran well on his first run since being gelded (at Wolverhampton) and then was slow away and got caught wide in the Greys race at Newmarket last time, so I’ll forgive him that, because he’s generally very consistent and has a lovely attitude.
He’s dropping back in trip here, which will suit, as his sole win came over five furlongs and he competes off a fair mark.
DONCASTER SUNDAY
2:30 Handicap
Angel Hunter (Jamie Spencer)
He’s got lots of talent and ran well last time on ground that was too soft for him. As long as there’s no more significant rain, I can see him going very well under Jamie Spencer, who will ride him cold.
4:10 G3 Sceptre Stakes
Circe (Harry Davies)
She’s a very tough filly with plenty of speed and has already won over course and distance. I was delighted with her run in the Stewards’ Cup, where she wasn’t beaten far at all, and I’m happy with her condition since. We’re now going up in grade, but she has lots of talent, and it would be great if we could grab some Black Type.
Uncertainty heads to The Curragh for their big Sales race at 2:05 and is in great form at home. She stayed on really nicely to finish third at Windsor, and the extra half a furlong over there will definitely help.
Chris Hayes is a good jockey booking, and it’s a valuable prize, so definitely worth a shot, although she wouldn’t want the ground too soft.
