NEWMARKET

2:25 G1 Cheveley Park Stakes

Happy Romance (Sean Levey)

She’s like the gift that keeps on giving and I was really impressed with her win at Salisbury last time, of which she has come out of in great shape. We’re now stepping up to Group 1 Company but this is the obvious step and we’ll know if we have a genuine Guineas contender after this. I said after she won the Super Sprint at Newbury that she wasn’t just a two-year-old and I think she could be even better next year so let’s hope I’m right!

4:10 Nursery

Ma Cherie Amour (Sean Levey)

She out ran her 150/1 odds at Doncaster last time when running a very good race to finish fourth in the Carrie Red and she’s a filly that is clearly getting better with experience. This is another competitive race but she’s been in good form at home and worked well last week so I’m pretty hopeful she can go well in what looks a good opportunity for her.

HAYDOCK

1:30 Novice

Albertville (Pat Dobbs)

He’s a very smart colt by Olympic Glory who has shown plenty in his work and this looks a decent starting point for him. As with many of ours, I expect him to improve for the run but I’m nevertheless hopeful he can put up a decent show.

4:15 Handicap

Grinling (Pat Dobbs)

He’s been in good form and won nicely at Windsor last time, of which he got put up 4lbs,  so we’re forced into a 0-90 but he’s a very likeable horse who is consistent and tries hard and won’t have any issues with the ground.

It’s a very quiet weekend for us with just a handful of runners both days but on Sunday Kool Moe Dee would have a serious chance in the Nursery (3:00) at Chester if he can overcome his slightly wide draw in six and Fountain Cross has conditions in his favour in the 1:30 at Nottingham so has no excuses.

Richard.
