CHESTER – THURSDAY
2:45 Handicap
Riffaa Wonder (Sean Levey)
In all honesty I fancied his chance quite strongly at Thirsk on his first run of the season last time but he clearly wasn’t quite as tuned up as I thought he was so that run would’ve done him a lot of good and 7 furlongs around this tight track will hopefully play to his strengths. We’ve always thought quite a lot of him and he’s more than capable of making his presence felt.
3:45 Handicap
Al Madhar (Jim Crowley)
We gelded him in the autumn and he came back with a slightly underwhelming run at Thirsk on his seasonal debut but I think it may have been more to do with the trip than anything else so we’re going back down in distance which will hopefully help and I certainly haven’t given up on him just yet. He’s also been dropped a couple of pounds so should run a nice race.
4:15 Maiden
Zoltan Star (Sean Levey)
We thought he was a certainty on debut at Windsor but he just got run out of it by the big priced winner, but that race has worked out extremely well with three horses coming out and winning and a couple of others being placed. He’s improved a lot for that run and I think he’ll take an awful lot of beating.
