CHESTER
2:10
Witch Hunter (Joe Leavy)
He ran well in the Victoria Cup, where the ground was plenty quick enough, so he should be much happier with the ease in conditions at Chester, and he has a decent draw in two. This is another competitive race but he’s in good shape and hopefully he can run well, although he does have top weight to defy.

Eupator (Joe Leavy)
He was never happy at Sandown last time where he failed to get into a rhythm and found the ground too quick. He’s much, much better than that, however, and I must admit I didn’t expect him to still be a Maiden at this stage of his career. He always works to a good standard, and he’s more than capable of winning this, he just needs to show what he does at home.
YORK
3:50
Miss Collada (Sam Hitchcott)
She was a decent juvenile who has found things a little harder as a three-year-old, but she is still capable of winning more races and is gradually coming down the weights. She will also appreciate any give in the ground.
5:00
Mum’s Tipple (Tom Marquand)
He bounced back to form last time with a fantastic run over course and distance under Alec Voikhansky (who was claiming 3lbs) but the handicapper has put him straight back up another 2lbs so effectively he’s 5lbs higher here which obviously makes things much harder again; it’s quite disappointing because what chances do horses like him have? He’s in great nick at home, though, and as we all know, he loves the track.
HAYDOCK
4:43
Best Rate (Pat Dobbs)
He got left in the stalls and was very awkward coming out so lost his race at the start last time – ignore that. His previous efforts at Newmarket and York are extremely good and a reproduction of either of them would see him go very close. He certainly deserves to get his head in front.
SOUTHWELL
4:55
She Went Whoosh (Tyrese Cameron)
She’s no world beater but is a very quick filly who is consistent and tries hard. I was pleased with her run at Lingfield last time, where she wasn’t beaten far, and this is another drop down in grade.
LINGFIELD
6:10
Odin Legacy (Alec Voikhansky)
He stays this trip well and is quite a likeable horse. The blinkers help to make him concentrate and this looks a very suitable race.
7:10
Assaranca (Alex Voikhansky)
She’s a filly with a lovely pedigree who works to a fair level and she’ll probably want further in time; but she’s ready to go and this might not turn out to be the strongest race.
