HAYDOCK

Local Hero (Joe Leavy)
All his wins have come on the Kempton All Weather, but he is extremely unexposed on turf, and the ground should ride very similar to what he’s used to. The return to a mile will suit, and Joe’s 3lbs claim means he’s back down to a winning mark.

Persian Spirit (Joe Leavy)
She’s a filly we’ve always liked, and I loved her attitude at Kempton last time, where she really knuckled down to win. The Handicapper wasn’t too harsh, and she still looks quite well treated, taking into account Joe’s 3lbs claim; although she would need a drop of rain to be at her best, and if it’s too fast, she probably won’t run.
GOODWOOD

Best Rate (Hollie Doyle)
He was very unlucky not to win at York last time when he just got nabbed on the line by a fast finisher. He’s got a lot of speed, so a track like this will suit his running style, but he’s been nudged up another couple of pounds, which isn’t ideal.

Indigo Dawn (Pat Dobbs)
She cost 75k guineas at the Tattersalls Breeze Ups and is a very nice filly by Nando Parrado, who has done everything very nicely since she arrived. I don’t know what we’re taking on, and she won’t be given a hard time, but this looks like a good starting point, and hopefully she can go well.

Xanthe (Pat Dobbs)
She’s been off since running a very nice race in the Queen Mary and is a filly with lots of ability. She’s probably not a backable proposition, having been off for almost a year, but she’s speedy and is over her complications now. She might just come on for it, but I’m hopeful that she’ll run well and show some of her old spark.
BEVERLEY

Raakeb (Sam Hitchcott)
He won with authority on debut at Ripon, and I think he’s come on again for it. This is a step up in grade, but he should handle it, and he is a colt with plenty of ability.
3:55
Signcastle City (Sam Hitchcott)
He’s quite consistent and has run two decent races already this season, most recently last time at Nottingham, when 1m ½ furlong might’ve just been a bit too far, so he’s back in trip a little, and the ground is in his favour.
