NEWBURY

1:15

Mojo Star (David Egan)

He is without a shadow of a doubt the best Maiden in the country! and while we had the option of going up to York for the Great Voltigeur we made the decision to lower our sights because he’s had a couple of hard races so it would be nice for him to have a nice spin around here and hopefully gain a confidence boosting win.

There are only three runners and we don’t want it to turn tactical so we won’t mess around and if we have to make it we will.  He’s been in very good form and the St Leger is the aim so all being well that’s where we’ll go next.

Robjon (Tom Marquand)

He ran a very good race at Goodwood last time behind Ever Given, the form of which looks very strong (subsequently 4th in a big sales race at Naas last week where Bosh was second) and this colt has always been very consistent and shown a good level of form all the way through. I think the step up to 7 furlongs will suit and he represents fantastic each way value.

Holiday (Pat Dobbs)

He was due to run at Goodwood last week but the ground was plenty soft enough and he wasn’t ideally drawn as well so we saved him for another day and while this could be a stiff introduction he’s been away to Newbury to gallop and worked very, very well without really coming off the bridle so it will be interesting to see what he finds off it.

Julie Wood, his owner, is never afraid to shirk a challenge and the reason we opted for this is because the conditions are very much the same as the Chesham, so it’s not as if we are doing anything out of the ordinary and I’m really looking forward to seeing what engine there is under the bonnet.

Magical Wish (Pat Dobbs)

He’s been in really good form of late and I was delighted to see him win at Goodwood last time where he showed a great attitude to score for Middleham Park Racing. The Handicapper has put him back up another 3lbs which is fair enough and we’ve kept him nice and fresh at home, so he goes there with a rock solid chance.

3:30

Motakhayyel (Dane O’Neill)

I was delighted with his run at Ascot last time where he put up another very gutsy performance when looking the winner a furlong out but he’s better off at the weights with Danyah now so we’re definitely entitled to reverse placings with him. The track should be ideal and I see no reason why he can’t run a huge race with ground and race conditions to suit.

NEWMARKET

1:00

Captains Bar (Sean Levey)

He’s a very nice colt who has a lovely temperament and has done everything we’ve asked at home. He has been away to gallop as well so should know his job, but I do think he’ll be slightly better over further in time and I can see there are at least two in the field with strong form who we have to beat. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was good enough to win first time out.

1:30

Night Candle (Sean Levey)

She was never at the races the last day at York when she badly missed the break and never got into it, but she’s better than that and I’m pretty sure the step up to seven will be in her favour and I wouldn’t entirely discount her.

4:15

Royal Event (Sean Levey)

She ran a great race over course and distance last time but probably bumped into a very smart filly of William Haggas’s so lost nothing in defeat and I think she could be quite interesting on her handicap debut at a course we know she handles well.

Chindit heads to Deauville on Sunday to contest the Prix Jacques Le Marois and I’ve been really happy with him over the last week or so. We decided to skip the Sussex because it was no point running in a race like that on ground he would’ve hated so this looked the most suitable race instead and while it looks a very good race, we’ll try and ride him a little closer to the pace than at Ascot last time and hope there is no more rain. He’s a big strong colt who has a very good attitude and he goes there with a great chance.

York Update

I think we have some pretty strong chances at York next week especially with our two olds which include Ehraz, who was very good at Ascot last time, and he’ll run in the Acomb.

Lusail takes his chance in the Gimcrack and we have secured Ryan Moore to ride Bosh in the Nursery.

System will be our runner in the big Sales race we won with Mums Tipple a few years ago.

Gubbass and Armor will head over to France for the G1 Prix Morny.
