NEWMARKET – FRIDAY
1:15 Maiden
Thanielle (Ryan Moore)
She was quite buzzy so we let her bowl along at Salisbury on her last run in September and she put up a decent effort finishing third when looking as though she might have held on but got collared close home. That form doesn’t have a bad look to it and I think she’s definitely matured over the winter. She’ll run in a sheepskin nose band to encourage her to keep her head down and she’s got a little bit of class so I expect her to run well.
3:00 Paradise Stakes (Listed)
Oh This Is Us (Pat Dobbs)
He is a celebrity in the yard and owes us absolutely nothing having won 13 races and accumulated over £600,000 in total prize money. He only ran in February so it’s just been a case of keeping him ticking over and he arrives here in great form. Sangarius is a typical Sir Michael Stoute improver and Lord Tennyson could be anything so it looks a decent race but I’m happy with our lad and hopefully he’ll put up a good show.
5:20 Fillies’ Maiden
Winter Halo (Andrea Atzeni)
She cost a fair few quid and has been working quite nicely at home, although without having the buttons pushed really hard. She didn’t have any action as a two year old and we’ve given her plenty of time but she’s been catching the eye and while this is a typically good Newmarket maiden, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her go well.
LINGFIELD
1:30 Maiden
Mark Of The Man (Sean Levey)
He’s a sharp colt who is pretty forward and ready to go. 6f around Lingfield will suit and he’s shown enough at home to suggest he could run well.
2:05 Handicap
Ziggle Pops (Sean Levey)
He’s having his first run on the All Weather but I can’t see that being a problem as he works on it every day and he has plenty of decent form to his name, not least finishing fourth to Quadrilateral last summer and running very well in a big Sales race at Doncaster which means there is absolutely no room for manoeuvre off a revised mark of 87, but his work has been good and he has improved a bit over the winter.
4:25 Handicap
In The Cove (Sean Levey)
This is his level and he’s a capable performer on this surface so has no real excuses as he only ran in March so should have a slight fitness edge over his rivals and the handicapper has dropped him a couple of pounds too. That said, there’s only five pounds separating the whole field so it’s going to be very competitive but I’m happy with him and see no reason why he can’t figure.
