NEWBURY

Mojo Star (Kevin Stott)

He has always been a very good colt but has had a few niggly issues which have kept him off the track and hasn’t run since putting up a brilliant effort when second in the Gold Cup. He’s done plenty of work and been away to gallop so should be pretty straight. But this is his first run in a while so he’s entitled to improve for it and we’re working back from the Ascot Gold Cup. I’m very happy with him and while the trip is on the short side, this is a good place to kick off his season.

Magical Sunset (Kevin Stott)

She won a Listed race over course and distance last October on heavy ground so I wouldn’t be worried about if there’s lots of rain around and her work has been very good so I can’t see any reason why she hasn’t trained on, although she’s not quite fully in her coat yet. There wouldn’t be much between her and Mammas Girl on their homework, albeit they’re in separate yards, but it’s an interesting race and I’m very happy with our filly and expect a big run.

Classic (Pat Dobbs)

He didn’t get his career off to the start we anticipated and it took him three attempts to get his head in front but we’ve done plenty of work at home to get him to settle – which will be the first objective here. An honest gallop will suit but he does have plenty to find.

Dawn Of Liberation (Pat Dobbs)

He’s a colt with lots of ability but we felt he wasn’t quite finishing his races and his wind may have been catching him out so he’s had a wind op and has been working well at home. Soft ground isn’t ideal and I’ll be keeping an eye on conditions if there’s much more rain. But I do like him and wouldn’t put you off.

Greatest Time (Sean Levey)

I was delighted with his debut at Newmarket last September when Ryan rode him and was very complimentary afterwards. We immediately put him away to give him time to strengthen up and he’s developed into a strong colt. His work is very good and I think he could end up quite smart.

Yesisaidyes (Pat Dobbs)

He ran ok at Pontefract earlier this month and will have learnt a lot from it but this looks a decent Maiden and I’d expect him to be more effective in Handicaps.

4:20

Talisman (Pat Dobbs)

He’s a colt by Cracksman who did plenty of work last year but was always going to be a three-year-old so we left him off and got him in nice and early this year. He might just be vulnerable to those that have had a run and he’ll definitely build on whatever he does today.

Yellow Star (Sean Levey)

He shaped with promise on his only run last year but he’s bred to stay so this trip is ideal and he worked nicely earlier this week.

BRIGHTON

Qandil (Sam Hitchcott)

She’s a sharp filly, not massive, but quite precocious and if she breaks well, she’d have a serious chance.
