NEWMARKET
2:25 G3 Oh So Sharp Stakes
Circe (Sean Levey)
She’s always been a filly we’ve liked, and she ran very well behind a smart one of Ralph Beckett’s (who runs in the G1 Fillies’ Mile) on her debut at Sandown en route to an easy success at Doncaster’s St Leger meeting. This is obviously a big step up, but she has lots of natural ability and her work has been excellent. Whatever happens here she has a bright future.
3:00 G2 Challenge Stakes
Chindit (Ryan Moore)
He didn’t go down without a fight in the Joel Stakes last time and has been in the form of his life all season, in fact he’s probably better than he ever has been. Seven furlongs and a mile all come the same to him and the Good to Firm ground is perfect, so he should run another big race.
Shouldvebeenaring (Sean Levey)
I was absolutely delighted with his run in the Foret, where he didn’t get the best of runs on the inside, but was only beaten just over a length. We’ve done hardly anything with him at home to keep him nice and fresh and he comes into this off the back of two excellent efforts in Group Ones so deserves to get his head in front again.
5:55 G3 Pride Stakes
Rousay (Sean Levey)
She’s a tough, consistent filly who hasn’t won for a while but has some decent form and I was delighted with her effort behind My Prospero at Goodwood last time where she wasn’t beaten that far. She can often run a bit keen but there looks to be plenty of pace on here she goes on any ground.
YORK
Up at York, The Coffee Pod returns to the track where he broke his Maiden tag last time in the 3:15 and he’s a very progressive colt. He showed a good attitude to win on that occasion and while this is a big step up, his work has been very good and I expect him to go close under PJ McDonald.
