YORK – FRIDAY
5:20 Handicap
System (Pat Dobbs)
Since we stepped her up to a mile she’s been very good and we fancied her strongly to win at Doncaster last time and she duly obliged. The Handicapper has put her up another 4lbs, and she’s going back up in grade, but I’ve been very happy with her wellbeing at home and we’ve done very little with her, so she arrives here a happy, fresh horse. She’s run well at this track before and in her current form I couldn’t discount her.
ELSEWHERE
We’ve got a few runners elsewhere including a couple of nice debutantes in the first race at Newbury (1:10). Purple Love is a lovely filly by Wootton Basset who has been doing everything nicely at home and I’m looking forward to seeing what she’s got. She’ll definitely improve for the run but is a name to keep an eye on while Tangled In Time is probably more of a long term project but isn’t without talent.
Cheeky Maxi has plenty of ability and drops back down in trip for his handicap debut in the 1:00 at Carlisle. The cheek pieces first time will hopefully keep him sharp and he goes there with a decent chance over the minimum distance.
Signcastle City steps up to Listed Company in the Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury (6:35) after winning nicely over six furlongs last time, and if staying the mile, he would have a great chance under Sam Hitchcott who’s riding well at the moment.
