SANDOWN

1:50 Handicap

Embour (Ryan Moore)

It’s hard not to like this horse and he’s got such a great attitude and is probably the quietest ride on the whole yard. I’m not joking, you could put any of my children on him and he’d take them up the All Weather gallop like an old hand and just stop and wait at the end. Luckily, we don’t need to use him as the yard hack just yet as he still has plenty of petrol in the tank and retains lots of ability. He was unlucky not to win the other day at Goodwood and the Handicapper is taking no chances but I think a stiff five around here will suit and he’ll handle the ground no problem.

3:00 G3 Atalanta Stakes

Red Starlight (William Buick)

There’s not much else around for her except races like this and she deserves to win a Pattern race as she’s been placed in plenty of them, but this looks a good renewal so if she can finish in the money again I’ll be happy.

4:10 Nursery

Forbidden Land (Ryan Moore)

I thought he’d win at Ffos Las last time but he got a bump leaving the stalls and everything just happened a little too quick for him so the step up to seven will help as will the stiff track. He’s handicapped now and it will be interesting to learn if his rating of 78 proves right. Simon Crisford’s will be hard to beat but, realistically, ours won’t be far away.

4:45 Handicap

Mr Tyrell (Sean Levey)

He’s very experienced and this is his grade so I think he has solid claims here. He seems to handle any ground and we gave him a few quiet days after his last run to freshen him up a bit so hopefully that will aid his cause.

CHESTER

1:35 Novice Stakes

No Show (Andrea Atzeni)

He certainly lived up to his name at Haydock last time as we all fancied him to win but he probably ran a bit too keen and may have found the ground plenty quick enough so we’re going back up to seven and the surface should be perfect. If he can get a nice easy lead from stall one, I’d be quite confident that he can go very close.

2:10 Handicap

Oh This Is Us (Andrea Atzeni)

I think he may have won this race last year off 108, or a similar type anyway, and he’s won twice and been placed around here so we know he handles the track and he’s gradually coming down the weights. He’s not getting any younger but still retains a lot of ability and on ratings, he deserves to win.

LINGFIELD

4:20 Apprentice Handicap

Letsbe Avenue (Mark Crehan)

He’s started to get very lazy in his races so we’re putting the blinkers on in the hope they will sharpen him up. Mark has ridden him plenty at home so knows him well and hopefully he can coax him along and keep him interested. It’s an Apprentice race so anything can happen!

7:00 Handicap

Allocator (Pat Dobbs)

We’re going back up in trip with him and the Handicapper has dropped him to a very handy mark of 67, but in all honesty we’re clutching at straws and on the form you can all see, I am by no means confident he can win.

CHELMSFORD

6:45 Nursery

Hard Nut (Ryan Moore)

He ran a great race at York last time and another showing like that would give him every chance here. We’ve done nothing with him at home except steady work so he’s fit, fresh and well. This is only a small field so I hope there is a decent pace; if so, he won’t be far away.

7:15 Handicap

War Glory (Sean Levey)

This is a very valuable prize so I think it’s important to support race courses that offer good prize money and War Glory has a great record on the All Weather so I’m quietly confident he can run a huge race. There’s nothing not to like about this horse as he has pretty much danced every dance and always tries his best which is all you can ask for. His effort at Ascot last time was good and I think he has every chance here.

7:45 Conditions Stakes

Wild Thunder (Ryan Moore)

He was impressive at Goodwood on debut and then I probably stepped him up in grade too quickly after that so we went back to Novice Company last time and he threw the race away by running way too free. This looks slightly easier and his work has been very good so I’m hoping a race like this will give him some confidence.

8:15 Novice Stakes

More Than A Prince (Sean Levey)

He ran pretty much as we expected at Newmarket on debut where Dobbsy gave him a nice introduction and he finished his race well. I have been extremely happy with him since and there’s no doubt that he’s come on plenty for it so hopefully he can put his best foot forward.
