This has been the plan for quite some time and we deliberately decided to skip the Caulfield Cup to keep him nice and fresh for this. Middleham Park were offered quite a bit of money for him after running in the Ebor last time, which they turned down and decided to have a go at the Melbourne Cup themselves so I wish all of them the very best of luck as it was a brave decision. Everybody loves Raymond and Joe Kington, who has gone over with him, reports him to be in great shape and training well in the mornings. I think Raymond is the ideal type of horse to run (and hopefully win) a Melbourne Cup as he’s still relatively lightly raced and a very easy ride as he settles nicely. The ground won’t be an issue and I honestly think he has every chance of running a huge race under Jamie Spencer who gets on very well with him.
