NEWMARKET – FRIDAY

1:15 Maiden
Signcastle City (Andrea Atzeni)
He was due to run at Windsor last week but didn’t work all that well a couple of days before so we decided to give him a little more time. While he’s still not burning the house down he did show more spark in the week so it’s just a case of giving him a run and seeing what he shows. I’ve seen glimpses of a very good horse and he may be one that saves it for the track, which is fine, but it is very much a fact finding mission today; it could go one way or the other.
Manifested (Sean Levey)
He’s related to several winners and is a colt who has shown quite a bit at home. I do expect him to come on for the run, and he’ll end up wanting a bit further in time, but this is a nice starting point and I don’t think he’ll disgrace himself.

1:50 Handicap
Oh Herberts Reign (Sean Levey)
He wasn’t entirely disgraced in the Britannia last time and I think he’ll be much better suited by the step back up in trip because he ran well over ten furlongs at Epsom. He seems to handle any ground and while he’s a big price, this should be slightly easier than Royal Ascot and he could run well.

4:10 Handicap
Mum’s Tipple (Sean Levey)
In all fairness to him he wasn’t beaten all that far at Royal Ascot last time but did revert to his habit of hanging which is something I thought he’d stopped doing. Realistically he has to pull plenty out of the fire because his recent form isn’t that attractive and giving weight all round won’t be easy.

We’ve got a couple of runners at Ascot where Etonian steps back up to a mile and a quarter and faces his easiest task for quite some time in the Handicap at 4:36, so hopefully he can run well. Razzle Dazzle drops down to eight furlongs in the 3:25 and should put up a decent show on ground he’ll love.
