NEWBURY

3:00

Forca Timao (Kevin Stott)

He would’ve needed his first run back at Newmarket last time and is a colt with plenty of ability. This is his first start in a Handicap and I think he could be quite interesting off 92. It’s a competitive race but he’s in good form and has a solid chance.

Chindit (Pat Dobbs)

He got the job done nicely in the Paradise Stakes at Ascot last time and it would be great if he could finally break his Group One duck at our local track. There isn’t much about his form that you don’t already know but the ground will suit and he may have come on a bit since Ascot.

Lusail (Ryan Moore)

He’s still unexposed over this trip and a reproduction of his excellent effort in the St James’s Palace at Ascot last June would see him bang there, and this flatter track will suit as well. He likes fast ground and worked well the other day so has a decent chance on his best form.

Dawn Of Liberation (Pat Dobbs)

He didn’t like the soft ground at Newmarket last time, but I had to get a run into him, so I’d ignore that and he’ll be much more at home on this better surface. The drop back to a mile is a plus and I don’t think he should be the complete outsider.

Rich (Pat Dobbs)

She may not have got the best of passages at Brighton last time, when I thought she’d go very close, but ultimately she was disappointing and didn’t appear to build on her encouraging seasonal debut, so she is on something of a retrieval mission. She’s a talented filly but needs to show a bit more to be considered here.

NEWMARKET

1:30

La Guarida (Richard Kingscote)

She’s quite a speedy filly by New Bay who has been showing up nicely in her work and is ready to go. Whether she is quite street-wise to win first time out, time will tell, but we like her.

2:05

Yellow Lion (Alec Voikhansky)

He’s probably a little better than his form figures suggest and he didn’t run too badly last time. Alec is decent value for his 5lbs claim and hopefully the step back up to a mile will help, but he does have to significantly improve.

3:15

Powerdress (Sean Levey)

This is obviously a massive drop in grade to a Handicap from the G1 1000 Guineas and the step back to seven furlongs will be a help as well. She’s very smart and she’ll love the ground.

Signcastle City (Richard Kingscote)

He’s actually got some very good form to his name and is certainly no forlorn hope running on much better ground here. Seven furlongs isn’t a problem and the quicker the going the better.

Witch Hunter (Alec Voikhansky)

He ran a great race at Chester last time and competes off the same mark here, but with Alec’s 5lb allowance he’s, in theory, very well treated. We’ve done nothing with him all week so he should be nice and fresh and if he can back up his latest run, he will definitely be in with a shout.

DONCASTER

8:20

Captain Cuddles (Joe Fanning)

He didn’t handle soft ground at Newbury last time which is why I took him out of Newmarket, so he’ll be much happier under these conditions and the drop back to six furlongs is a big plus as well. He’s also dropping down two grades and must have a right chance under Joe Fanning who will ride him positively.
