CURRAGH

4:15 G1 Phoenix Stakes

Persian Force (Rossa Ryan)

We decided to skip Goodwood in favour of this and hopefully we’ve made the right decision because that extra week or so has given us more time to freshen him up and I couldn’t be happier with him coming into this. He’s up against Bradsell again but as things panned out I don’t think we were on the best part of the course at Ascot so I’m not afraid of taking the Coventry winner on again and this colt is improving all the time. It’s a particularly good renewal this year, and every horse goes there with solid claims, but Persian Force has always been very good and I’m hoping he can keep on showing us exactly HOW good he really is.

NEWMARKET

1:20

Magical Sunset (Rowan Scott)

She’s a beautiful filly by Kodiac who has done everything right at home and is ready for a run. She’ll definitely come on for it, and this looks a good maiden, but I’m optimistic she can run a nice race on debut.

2:30

Carbrackan (Sean Levey)

He’s a big horse and I’m not entirely convinced he handled Epsom and Goodwood on his last couple of runs so this more galloping track will help, as will the drop down a couple of grades. He works like a good horse and if things go his way, he could easily make his presence felt.

4:20

Typhoon Ten (Sean Levey)

It was no surprise that he needed the run in the Stewards’ Cup last week so he’ll obviously be much sharper here and while we’re backing him up just seven days after a long layoff, he’s a very relaxed horse and takes everything in his stride so I’m not too concerned on that score. The step back up to seven furlongs is a big plus as well.

LINGFIELD

5:35

Nancy Angel (Dane O’Neill)

She’s yet to set the world on fire but the step up in trip and drop down in grade will suit, although she would appear to be a more realistic betting proposition once she’s got a mark.

6:35

Mr Stanley (Sam Hitchcott)

He ran very well in defeat in a grade higher than this at Leicester last time and is off the same mark here on the All Weather so I’d be very hopeful that he can finally get his head in front.

7:05

Tyson (Alec Voikhansky)

He’s been out of form all season so I couldn’t be overly confident he’s going to all of a sudden go and win but he’s gradually coming back down the weights and Alec’s 7lbs claim means he’s particularly very well treated.
