NEWBURY
3:00 Handicap
Gisburn (Sean Levey)
He ran very well at Goodwood last time when finding lots of trouble in running and was probably an unlucky loser, but it was great to see him back to something like his best and he’s able to handle quicker ground nowadays which obviously makes things easier. The handicapper has kept him on 97, and he’s won twice at this track before. He’s due to get his head back in front and this looks a very suitable race.
3:35 G2 Hungerford Stakes
Chindit (Pat Dobbs)
This is obviously a lot easier than the G1 Sussex Stakes and he’s run well here before, including in the Lockinge and winning the Greenham over course and distance last year. I think the step down in trip won’t be a problem because he still has lots of pace and a great turn of foot so if anything, it’s a positive.
Happy Romance (Hollie Doyle)
Despite her form figures she’s actually put up some very good efforts in defeat this season but maybe she’s just starting to lack that bit of raw speed so I’m hoping the step (back) up to seven furlongs might help. All her work at home has been good and she’s moving very well so I wouldn’t discount her on a track she’s won twice at before.
NEWMARKET
3:53 Nursery
Mehme (Jamie Spencer)
She needed every yard of the six furlongs at Salisbury last time so step up in trip will definitely suit this sister to Mehmas and she’s getting better with every run. A mark of 77 looks workable and she has a great chance.
Zabbie (James Doyle)
It took her a while but she finally got the job done at Doncaster last week on her Nursery debut and I think that has done her confidence a lot of good. She clearly improved for the step up in trip so the stiff seven here will be a big help.
4:28 Handicap
Mums Tipple (Frankie Dettori)
He’s been knocking at the door all season and ran another good race in a valuable Handicap at Goodwood last time, for which he got dropped another pound and we’ve done very little at home with him since. This is by far one of the easiest tasks he’s faced for quite some time so I’d be very hopeful that he can put up a bold show.
WOLVERHAMPTON
5:46
Rattling (Rossa Ryan)
She’s got a lot of speed and is a filly we like quite a lot. The drop back in trip won’t be a problem at all and she’s not drawn badly in stall 2. Rossa will try and make good use of his draw and sit handy and I think she has a serious chance.
7:50
Lexington Knight (Rossa Ryan)
He ran well at Leicester last week, giving a few pounds to the winner, and 1m4f around here should be absolutely perfect so he must come into this with solid credentials.
8:50
Sandy Paradise (Sam Hitchcott)
He’s hit a rich vein of form having won his last two, but as a consequence has now worked himself back up to 69 which obviously won’t make things easy, that said he’s got a good draw in one and if he can continue on an upward curve he’d have to be given serious consideration.
