He ran well in the Unibet Stewards’ Cup all things considered but I think the step back up to seven furlongs will suit him much better and he’s been dropped a couple of pounds which is always a help. I’ve been happy with him at home and he represents great each way value.

He was a bit of a boy and wasn’t really concentrating where he should have been so he’s already been gelded which has definitely put him in the right mindset and his work has been quite good. This is a good starting point and hopefully he’ll run a nice race but I do expect him to improve for the experience.

He needs to step up on what he’s shown so far and this could end up a decent novice so I couldn’t be overly confident.

He’s been ‘over racing’ a little bit which is why we’re sticking with the hood to try and keep him relaxed and he’s come down to an attractive looking mark (87), but in his current form I’m not truly convinced he’s going to be able to take advantage of it.
2:40 Conditions Stakes
Fountain Cross (David Allen)
He’s an extremely likeable and consistent colt who ran a solid race in the G2 Vintage Stakes last time. This is obviously a massive step down in grade and the return to six furlongs will be a big help so I’m extremely hopeful. He’d be our best chance of the day, for sure!
3:15 Great St Wilfrid
Typhoon Ten (PJ McDonald)
He’s a little bit in and out but bounced back to form to score at Windsor last time and seems in good shape at home so then. The handicapper has put him up to a career high mark of 90 so there is absolutely no margin for error and stall six isn’t ideal, but PJ McDonald has a good record for us so with a bit of luck he can run well.
We should have plenty of runners at York next week including Arsonist who could take his chance in the Acomb on Wednesday. Happy Romance might go in the Lowther and Chindit looks a live candidate for the Gimcrack.
