QATAR GOODWOOD FESTIVAL – TUESDAY
1:50 Handicap
Etonian (Pat Dobbs)
He ran a great race back over a mile and quarter at Ascot last time when giving a stone, and more, to the winner and he’s been a excellent shape at home since. We’re going back up in grade but he still retains plenty of ability and will love the ground. We’ll try and make plenty of use of him on a track like this.
2:25 G2 Vintage Stakes
Dark Thirty (Ryan Moore)
I don’t think he got the best of luck in the Superlative last time yet he still put up a good show and wasn’t beaten far. He’s got close form with Mysterious Night and Holloway Bay so is entitled to be on the premises and he worked very well last week so I wouldn’t dismiss him lightly.
3:00 G2 Lennox Stakes
Lusail (Pat Dobbs)
He hasn’t won since the Gimcrack last year but he’s posted some excellent efforts in defeat including in the Prix Jean Prat last time when the ground wouldn’t have been ideal. He’s never flashy in his work but we know him well now and he appears in great shape. The drier the better and if the rain stays away he would have to be one of our best chances of the day.
Gubbass (Ryan Moore)
I have to say I’m really pleased with this lad, he seems to have turned a corner and looks and feels well, which he wasn’t a month or two ago. He’s always been a very good horse and obviously had a great pay day in the Super Sprint last year and then running a stormer in the Richmond Stakes here after that. He handles the course and is in a very good place at present so could easily run a big race under Ryan Moore.

4:45 Maiden
Supreme King (Ryan Moore)
He’s a very well bred son of Kingman out of a G3 winning mare who ran very well, if not a little green, on debut at Haydock and he’s come on a lot for it. This is a very competitive Maiden and he might not be ideally drawn in stall 17 almost right up against the rail, but he’s a smart colt with a bright future.
Hale End (Pat Dobbs)
He’s a striking son of Mehmas from a lovely family and has done everything well so far. We’ve taken him away to work and he galloped with some nice horses so we think he could end up quite smart. Obviously this is a very tough ask first time out but his owner is keen to have runners at this meeting and I’d fancy him to go quite nicely.
5:20 Fillies’ Handicap
System (Pat Dobbs)
She showed a welcome return to form at Ascot last time and has been in very good shape at home since. She’s fit and well and doesn’t need much work so we’ve kept her nice and fresh and she has solid each way claims.
